Every time i start application it tells me that it needs to connect to linkassistant and tell me to edit hosts file.. then after adding # before the ip... it starts and again it tells to register. :(
Help please!
Thanks BlackNinjx great share and everything is working fine. :)
Thank you!
Used 2nd method. Works super cool.

Thank you BlackNinjx <3
FIRSTLY
@majors
You have to follow method 2
Method 1 doesn't work as the software has been updated to know if your hosts file is blocking their site (or somethig equiv)
I've added thorough instructions for you and others below which cover installing AND upgrading

PASSWORDS
If you don't know what the password is... and cannot find where it is in the freebies or any other section, how about actually reading MORE than the first post! To you lazy bums with only a handful of post counts, you don't have enough invested for anyone else to bother giving you an answer, especially when you aren't likely to be back for an answer at any rate. Stop asking, figure it out for yourself. It really isn't difficult!

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

- Install the software
- Install Privoxy and set up as per METHOD 2 (first post), BUT don't follow step 7 YET (adding the proxy info to the component, we'll let it update first)
- Enter the following code into user.action (the last line has a . at the start)

Code:
{+block{link assistant.} +handle-as-empty-document}
http://www.link-assistant.com
208.115.108.42
link-assistant.com
.link-assistant.com

- Have a firewall running (this is your backup protection just in case)
- Run each individual component of the installed software one at a time, following the below steps
- Firstly regarding your firewall software, it is going to flag a bunch of things the software is trying to do...
- You can let the firewall "Allow" and "Remember" (or equiv) everything EXCEPT the next situation
- When something tries to go to IP 208.115.108.42, allow this in order to perform the updates necessary, but DO NOT let the firewall remember this

SOME BACKGROUND FOR NON TECHY PEEPS
- This is what Privoxy is will later stop happening
- We do want to be able to do it again in order to check again for updates some time later, but MANUALLY and when we choose
- BUT if the software gets to that IP without Privoxy or the firewall running and you are still "registered", the registration will become invalid (your IP gets logged, the software gets updated so this no longer works, you don't get into heaven, etc)
- We are adding an extra level of protection so if later you run the software and Privoxy isn't running for some reason, the firewall will still flag SEO Powersuite trying to call home AND you can then manually block it (again not letting the firewall remember the choice so it will still flag again in the future WHILE letting you manually allow updates when you run through the update procedure below). You get the idea, if not, think about it some more and engage brain instead of lazily asking dumb questions. Right back to the biz

- Now set the proxy info as per METHOD 2, step 7 (Preferences -> Proxy Settings... set to 127.0.0.1 port 8118)
- Then register the component (Help -> Registration Info) using keys generated with the keygen
- Repeat for all components
- Job done!

UPGRADING

- Open the component you wish to upgrade, go to Help --> Reg Info and DELETE the license info (copy for later use if not already noted somewhere) to downgrade the package to the free version
- Go to Preferences -> Proxy Settings and uncheck in order to stop using the proxy
- The software will likely check for updates right away... but shut down and restart the software component will make sure (if update was availalbe it will download and sinstall and give you a popup (usually bottom right) stating what was updated)
- Once updated re-register as below

RE-REGISTERING

- Make sure you have the Privoxy user.actions set up and Privoxy is running (this should go without saying, but reading some of the comments proves some people are idiots)
- Now, re-register
- FIRST, set the software to use the proxy once more (Prefs -> Proxy Settings)
- Set to 127.0.0.1 port 8118
- THEN, add the license info back in (Help -> Reg Info) to upgrade to starship enterprise once more
- Enter the details you noted down above, or ones newly generated by the Keygen

Mum out!

In addition... once registered and updated, you can always add the lines into the hosts file (it only needs to be commented out to update)
I can register for seo spyglass and buzzle, but the key generated is invalid for rank tracker and web auditor.

Strange. (:
