Do I think it will happen?

YES. But not soon.
Hi Quasar,
Thanks again for all your valuable tips and insights, really appreciated
Just as an fyi, this is the reply I got back from Amazon when I inquired about tax:

Amazon.com LLC and Amazon Digital Services, Inc are required to collect sales

It is an account receivable, right? Offer a family member, friend or anyone you trust 10% of the receivable to pay you for it. They make 10% for spotting you the cash and doing nothing - you get cash and a way to do business - everyone is happy. BUT be careful doing this - and ALWAYS put things in writing!
Thanks a lot, I put that question just to see how you will answer it, i do not have interest in ebay now i use other stuff similar to ebay.

I guess you answered the question as a respond for noobs, i can add mine, is to start at fiverr or have some cash, maybe do some affiliate or anything that can give you at least 250$ to make you able to pay shipment, make sure when you sell something on ebay, use a tracking ID and as for you client to confirm delivery and leave a review or a feedback that's will make your profile clean .
Thanks Quasar for the time and effort. +Rep

Yes, I have seen this chuckles, and it still doesn't make it a big concern. The irony here is that Amazon is doing this almost independent of everyone else selling online, but only in a few states.

The practice shows more than just a little arrogance on their part.

They have been one of few online retailers to push hard for sales tax collection. They know - and most people in the know - are pretty sure they are going to be sued over this. It will continue to be a war that gets waged in the courts.

Technically, the practice is illegal on many fronts. These laws and practices by online retailers are still being fought in many venues.

In my case, it is interesting because they charge sales tax, but they do so erratically - meaning they are charging sales tax on some things, but not others.

If I were Amazon, I would collect sales taxes too. It is a huge source of revenue, and even though they do have to pay states the sales tax they collect, they can make millions DAILY in overseas currency and bond markets - fast, which is what banks do.

It makes sense for them to push for and collect it - they earn a few hundred million more on the additional revenue and still pay the states on time.

I just add it into my cost of goods sold. If you choose the right items to do this, you DO earn less per sale. This is why, as soon as you understand arbitrage and how to do it, you also never stop looking for other sources.

There will always be deals that the 6%-8% more means less profit, but still more than enough to make lots of money. Sales tax or no, savvy businesspeople have always found ways to source and sell products, and still make lots of money.

So this is not as new as you may think - and it is far from being a deal breaker or business killer.

Interestingly, in a 20/20 interview, Jeff Bezos plainly said he expects Amazon to die. No it won't happen tomorrow or next year. His premise was that, historically no company in any business has been able to survive the passage of time and evolve successfully enough to stay in business.

I agree with that assessment.

So, while a concern, it is not a remotely good enough reason to ditch the model or practice of arbitrage.
As this thread continues to unravel, fresh intel added.

Way back in the dusty archives, there had been early mentions of Amazon boxes shipped, showing up at the intended purchaser's home, causing possible suspicion, with some recipients.

We have discussed, suggestions it is a non-issue- that may well be so, I am not here to refute that.
No opinion here, have not tried nor sent an Amazon box, yet.

Offering this as a way of circumventing, if one so wishes.

plainboxshipping.net

Encoding your Amazon site upon arrival, telling Amazon the product is to be shipped in a 'plain brown box'.

Will qualify this tip.
Have not used this yet, except to click on the box icon, promptly directed to my Amazon account page- this much I know.

Interesting Bill - Let us know what you find.

I never worry about boxes, as everyone knows. But for those still not doing anything because of "box paralysis" this may be an option.

Repped you for the find!
Not off to a good start. I listed a couple of products to get my feet wet with this. The first item changed price after a couple of days which left me making a loss if I sold the product.

As for the second item, I got an email from ebay saying my listing was pulled because of the image. I used the image from Amazon and added some words to it to make it stand out. The complaint was made by the brand but I have no idea why the brand targeted my listing when there are several other listings with the same pic and they are all still live.

Onwards and upwards, just thought I'd share my experience so far.

Hello. Nice tip, but I don't think it works. I've clicked on the boxes and got redirected to Amazon. I proceeded to checkout and have not been given the option to ship as a 'plain brown box'. I'm afraid this website is solely to trick us into buying under the owner's affiliate ID, generating comition for him.
