I'll add another point here about diet and weight loss...
As we know obesity was one of the main co-morbidities contributing to death from Covid and hasn't been addressed by anyone in the medical establishment, media, politicians, etc., in fact, we are now bombarded with "fat acceptance" billboards and ads running fat, obese, out of shape, beachballs trying to tell us they look good (they don't) and that they are healthy (they AREN'T). Also, if you are older you might be struggling with diabetes, especially if you are overweight. There is a very good chance you can eliminate Type 2 diabetes by lowering your weight, not eating sugar and eating less times a day. (again, I'm NOT a doctor so this isn't medical advice, just another method for YOU to try, see below, to try and treat your diabetes without having to take drugs...for type 2, NOT type 1 which I realize you will always have to take insulin for)
Personally, I find it funny how "they" go out of their way to put fat, ugly, out of shape hippos on the runways, in ads, movies, etc., and tell me to believe that they are "beautiful"....all I keep thinking is, you can put all the lipstick on a pig you want, it's still a pig!
Anyway, my point is that if you are looking to lose weight quickly, keep it off and live a healthier lifestyle, I would highly recommend trying the Keto diet with intermittent fasting as the way to go.
I have tried the Atkins diet a decade ago, with very good results but was difficult to stay on it as I was buying premade Atkins diet foods....since then, I have progressed to the Keto Diet and this is the one that has both let me lose 40 pounds in 5 months and keep it off going forward without much effort.
A quick summary, I only eat twice a day (lunch at 12noon and dinner at 5pm, NO snacks), walk every other day, exercise (pushups, curls, abs) days not walking with one day off, and stay on the Keto diet (cheating every now and then). Keto diet is Low Carbs and NO sugar (you can use sugar substitutes like Swerve or Allulose, etc.), NO white starches (rice, bread [although there is keto bread], pasta, potato's, etc.) and mostly meat/fish/chicken with green and cruciferous vegetables. Also, no plant oils except virgin oil, avocado and coconut as the others are inflammatory and can cause all kinds of health issues...arthritis, skins problems, etc.
Again, I'm not a doctor, this diet might not work or be healthy for some people due to existing medical issues, so please do your own research or ask your doctor, but it certainly has worked wonders for me and since I cook (and like to cook) for myself, meal preparation is relatively easy and fun for me.
You CAN change your weight, mental outlook, health issues, and life AT ANY AGE, if you are willing to try new things/foods/diets/exercises/methods, etc., and keep an open mind on experimenting to find out what works BEST FOR YOU, and YOUR body. I can tell you what works best for ME, but it might NOT work for you at all....that is just the way nature works.
Keep that in mind when you read other's people's testimonials and suggestions and then when/if trying it yourself, see how your body reacts to this new method. Keep what works for YOU, and drop what doesn't...easy scientific analysis using YOU as a test subject.....lol, of course, doing it safely and asking your doc for advice. (NOTE: for some things like TRT, you might have to search around for a TRT practicing doctor since most main stream Doc's might not be familiar with it or not like it due to old, preconceived notions they picked up way back in med school when they were looked down upon - PM me for some free TRT books and who to use in the USA for more info).
Hope this into helps some of the older gentlemen on this forum!
If you want some more hints on what I do, just PM me and I'll send you some more.
Cheers and have a great weekend!
