Hi, Google hacks, search tips, and FTP hacks is a big subject to discuss and it depends on what you are trying to do.
The easiest and best way to get started with hacking is to use "ready-made" search sites that index for easier browsing (FTP searches do not guarantee the results are still "live" or are "unprotected"... finding good stuff takes time) and hacking software that auto-fills search strings... like:

GoogleHacks - a compact desktop utility (PC or MAC) for several Google hacks:

As well, I've used FTP search engines to search for things... you can find many of these by Googling: "ftp search engines."

One of my favorite FTP search engines is filemare:

This should get you started... then, after a while, you may start using more advanced techniques.
