I use HideMyAss (HMA) for general browsing with Firefox... I don't see a need for Tor... You should be able to select you own location anywhere in the world with HMA and eliminate the overall need for Tor... but, I have noticed that HMA throttles the speed when I do a lot of file work - so, I will turn HMA off and use a proxy, if needed...
