Most of the plugin and theme needs activation key or plugin connected to update automatically and activates only then.

you get activated files that need activation keys. also some plugins include activation keys like monsterinsight/pixel your site/ rest come as it is from devloper's to update your files we provide regular update on our website every week on monday
