Google +1 definitely helps in ranking! After researching keywords, write some keyword optimized high quality content and try generate some Google +1 for those content!

I am working with the Google +1 campaign for my blog! Will report back if I start seeing some SERP movements of my blog!

I think that the +1 has an indirect effect on site’s search rank. This does not mean the more +1’s a link has, the higher rank it achieves in traditional search results.

I think +1 is not yet consider to effect SERP. Although possibilities
are that Google can add in future the +1 effect to the search engine
ranking factors.
