RE: HAH !! I finally beat Mega; here's how.
I downloaded some files from mega download with JDownloader and they all downloaded very well. This is the first time I've used JDownloader. It's an amazing program! Thanks again for sharing this info :)

Thumbs Up RE: HAH !! I finally beat Mega; here's how.
I can only tell you what I have seen and done myself:

Before using JDL, megasuck would quit 99.9% of the time and then count the totally lost DL against the quota - and so that was that until next try and failure on another day.

Now, using JDL it has not quit on me - not even once and never run out of 'quota' either - and I've done nothing to log into megasuck via JDL or whatever - so it is working both well AND anonymously - somehow.

HTH !!

Thankyou again for your recommendation of JDownloader. I've only been using it for a short time and it works really well - especially with really big files! It's the best download program I've used to date.

RE: HAH !! I finally beat Mega; here's how.
Mega gives you different daily download limits depending on if you have an account, and if you follow all the steps to get extra bandwidth, on the free plan. I have 30gb of storage and transfer space. I'm not sure if it's the same for my downloading limit or not. But I installed the megaysnc app, which is what I like to use best. I do often go over the limit cos I download a lot, but it's not a big deal for me because I have the ability to be patient. Just wait 5 hours and the download resumes automatically in megaync until I get it all.

Jdownloader works the same way. Once you reach your limit the download will just freeze until your wait period is over, and then it will resume automatically, even if you shut your computer down, or your internet goes out. But if you're only downloading a couple of gb per day then you shouldn't run into any wait periods at all.

I use jdownloader for pretty much everything, but I still prefer megasync for downloading from mega. Also, get yourself a free Mega account and import the file to your account before downloading it, unless it's too large and you don''t have the space. Importing takes like 2 seconds, and then you have the file saved in case anything does go wrong with downloading it. You can import and still use jdownloader, just click and copy the url once the file has been imported and jdownloader's link collector will collect it and add it to your download list. Then hit download in jdownloader and you're good to go.

The absolute worst way to download with mega is through your browser. You're just asking for problems when you do that.

RE: HAH !! I finally beat Mega; here's how.
IMO there's loads to despise about all things mega...examples:
- Just checking a share via browser to see what it contains and its size WITHOUT even trying to DL anything jacks up browser resource usage sky-high !!
- Any illusions one has that they may have any control over mega's dominance of one's browser and/or PC are just silly - it does just what it wants to, either overtly or covertly;
- Megasync is just another example of all the above - have it grab stuff, then delete it off their site...and WHAT !?!

Oh yes, it also just deleted that stuff off your PC without ANY query for confirmation - tough luck !!
Fetch it out of mega's trash and re-download it now, if you are able to.

BUT:
I have run into zero limit problems ever by using mega via JDL anonymously.

What is really silly to me is that my 50GB 'free' account is almost full of things I naively saved into it as much as 2 years ago - most of which I could not DL as I did not have JDL at that time - and now it will all likely sit there until that account is deleted because I really no longer need or want it and seriously don't give a hoot if it eats almost 50GB of megs's space just sitting there !!

Mega.nz has NOT made any friend of this user !!!

RE: HAH !! I finally beat Mega; here's how.
Have been using JDL for a long while now as a DL tool. Yes, it's great. You know you can even set it to start downloads at a certain time which works well if you're on limited bandwidth.

As for Mega, I haven't had any issues downloading. I never use a browser for files over 100MB. For bigger files I use JDL and if it's a big course of several GB, I use MegaSync app. You just log in with your account. Choose the selected sync and then point to the desired Mega folder for downloading. Point to the desired destination on your computer and then it does its thing. No issues at all. I do get a restriction of 20GB a day broken into 5GB blocks every 6 hours. This is only an issue when it's a super large course.

Yes - JDL has more features than I'll ever use, that's for sure !!

The highlight here for me is that now that I have JDL, the others are just peewees compared to it, and that it runs right from a JAR file means it is OS agnostic - which is a feature that I need as I use more than a single OS.

Not only has JDL solved the problems I always had with mega - but it also tames Zippy, 100%, which is great IMO !!
