I read your comments about people who routinely take shares and don't stop for a second to say "Thanks" ... I feel you and I just had a discussion on another members' thread about the same thing not long ago.

However ... keep in mind some people will give reps but not post to the thread. So you very well may be getting the appreciation you deserve --- unless you check your stats and don't find the reps there.

When I first learned how to share, I took off with it and have been doing it regularly ever since. In the beginning, I was disheartened by the numbers of "views" to my posts (knowing full well they probably availed themselves to the share) versus the number of comments and/or reps I got.

Then I started seeing my threads all over OTHER (cheesy-quality) BHFs and got really incensed.

I complained. I tried to get others to take my stuff down. I ranted and raved.

I kept being told to post my name and forum on my shares to discourage the thefts.

I did.

It didn't.

Then, I started noticing a small group of very good people who consistently showed their appreciation, respect and kindness by commenting on how high-quality my shares were. I still get PMs all the time that start off saying how much the person looks forward to my shares.

So, I made a special effort to comment here to let you know, you're not alone. It can get frustrating (especially if people knew how much effort is involved in a share done the right way).

So, for the caliber of people who will just swoop by, grab what you have to offer and swing on to the next opportunity, they will go from pillar-to-post the rest of their days because that's just who they are.

We can't change that.

And until the forum can find a way to discourage this behavior, all we can do is hope.

But take delight in the small numbers of people with the common courtesy to thank you for what you do.

Greetings Layna - great reply - thanks for posting it.

For anyone who hasn't noticed this yet...we have very little control over lots of things and that applies to thread subscriptions here especially !!

I do not want an email from each and every thread that gets a nice 'thank you !' reply - but I also know that whenever I add one of those I am subscribed, so:

Many, many times when I am certain that I do not wish to subscribe I am just as Layna says=> one who adds rep MINUS a reply - just to keep from being overwhelmed with emails that I do not want or need for quickie replies.

Of course, once made, the subscriptions can be removed - if one desires to make that extra step...

Just saw this...thanks and reps
I find we have less good shares lately cause people are rude and thoughtless
Many demand stuff..."re-up on Mega"..."where's the bonus"
Many dig in really old threads....and clutter the board with junk
Maybe some aren't fluent in English...they might want to realize that even little kids who are native speakers in US, UK, AU etc learn the words "please" "thank you" and such
If they speak Irish English like my grandparents they are really "charming"
ie, "A Hundred Thousand welcomes"... "Thanks a Million" haha

VIP area seems a bit more polite....hang in there and "thank a bunch" for the shares!
