The main advantage of being indexed for Google News is that articles rank very quickly (minutes) and easily for even competitive keywords. They don't stay ranked for long, but the concept is a good one (IMO).

The issue is that "Effortless" is so far off the mark it's not funny. It is pretty difficult to get Google to index your site, and Luther, as usual, has glossed over so much of the necessary detail. This is going to get way harder as well, because of the pressure on Google to police fake news sites.

If you want to get familiar with the idea, this is fine as a kindergarten starter, but don't expect it to be "effortless". It has loads of sloppy errors BTW. eg Google News will auto check your site once submitted within a couple of days - not weeks. If it fails the tests - very likely - you have to wait two months for a chance to resubmit.

FWIW: I've been testing auto translation using the WP Automatic plugin to create unique news content - it works but doesn't produce good enough English to satisfy Google, so you have to manually edit. and you need lots of original current content to have a chance of being indexed.

Anyone here with experience with Google News? Please share!

Thanks for this review bro..agreed more with you regarding this:

"and Luther, as usual, has glossed over so much of the necessary detail"

landro always put very impressive copywriting that trigger audience to buy his stuff but to make what the stuff he told become reality is another story.

cheers,

It's good that this forum exists so that Luther doesn't milk all the newbies like cows.

Yeah, if this is a Luther Landro product, I'll pass. He's as bad as that Zesh guy. Anyone remember him?

RE: [GET] EFFORTLESS GOOGLE NEWS FORMULA
A few years ago -- when it was supposedly easier than today -- I launched a site aimed directly at being approved for Google News. Bought some guides to see what was recommended, also modeled on sites we knew were in the News arena.

I registered a new domain -- which has pros and cons -- and chose a premium theme. Sensible site structure. Multiple news categories. Hosted on a VPS provided by a very well-regarded Host. Separate IP.

My partner and I hand-wrote HUNDREDS of news articles over a period of weeks, on a consistent multi-post multi-category daily schedule, before we submitted for approval. (We did this personally because we are both experienced researchers, experienced writers and old-school meticulous in terms of spelling and grammar in published content -- less so in my BBHF posts, I realize! We wanted to reduce the reasons Google might justifiably have had to say "no.")

Didn't put Adsense on. Following the advice of others who had succeeded via this path we had a few ads running -- as in 1 or 2 per page -- but, nothing garish or controversial and certainly not a dominant presence on any page. Had custom-built Legal pages. Did no BH stuff for SEO, but got some useful backlinks, entirely legit. Got some natural traffic.

Submitted ... and rejected. Submitted again weeks later, having maintained the posting schedule ... rejected. Submitted weeks later ... rejected. No meaningful explanation given on any occasion (maybe Google are more forthcoming these days?).

We persisted because the potential bursts of traffic and the aggregate traffic could be impressive. Drool-worthy.

Would like to say it was a worthwhile experiment but that assumes you at least learn useful stuff -- and the ONLY thing we learned was, in terms of that traffic model, to run as fast and as far as we could in the general direction of "away."

Oh, and we re-learned not to be so stupid as to put that much time and effort into something that may or may not work and where we had zero control and not even any influence over that success.
