[GET] A Technique for Producing Ideas - James Webb Young [pdf]
(from Amazon)

"A step-by-step technique for sparking breakthrough creativity in advertising--or "any" field
Since its publication in 1965, "A Technique for Producing Ideas" has helped thousands of advertising copywriters smash through internal barriers to unleash their creativity.
Professionals from poets and painters to scientists and engineers have also used the techniques in this concise, powerful book to generate exciting ideas on demand, at any time, on any subject.
Now let James Webb Young's unique insights help you look inside yourself to find that big, elusive idea--and once and for all lift the veil of mystery from the creative process."

"James Webb Young is in the tradition of some of our greatest thinkers when he describes the workings of the creative process.
The results of many years in advertising have proved to him that the key element in communications success is the production of relevant and dramatic ideas.
He not only makes this point vividly for us but shows us the road to that goal." --William Bernbach, Former Chairman and CEO, Doyle Dane Bernbach Inc.

"This early creative director at J Walter Thompson, Chicago deserves to be far better known. His is the only book I know of which explains how you can get better ideas.
Since I find getting any idea a pain, it is difficult to overstate its value. Where others divide the subject simplistically into “Awareness” and “Brand-building” with the occasional nod in the direction of direct response, James Webb Young looks at the subject in a far more sophisticated and intelligent manner."

(Drayton Bird, in his book "51 helpful marketing ideas ")

@tlandn thanks!

I'd like to add: Why we need an idea?

Drayton Bird said it in his wonderful "THE MISSING 51 HELPFUL MARKETING IDEAS"
http://bestblackhatforum.com/Thread-GET-...ol-1-Vol-2

"DO YOU LIKE TO THINK FOR YOURSELF?

Or do you prefer to follow the crowd?

Why should you want to think for yourself?
Why not do what everyone else does?

Benjamin Graham, who trained the world’s greatest investor Warren Buffett, told a story over 40 years ago that illustrates why it’s not always a good idea:

An oil prospector, moving to his heavenly reward, was met by St. Peter with bad news. “You’re qualified for residence,” said St. Peter, “but, as you can see, the compound reserved for oil men is reserved.
There’s no way to squeeze you in.” After thinking a moment, the prospector asked if he might say just four words to the present occupants. That seemed harmless to St. Peter, so the prospector cupped his hands and yelled: “Oil discovered in hell.” Immediately the gate to the compound opened and all the oil men marched out to head for the nether regions. Impressed, St. Peter invited the prospector to move in and make himself comfortable.

The prospector paused. “No,” he said, “I think I’ll go along with the rest of the boys.
There might be some truth to that rumour after all.”

You see, the temptation to follow the crowd is almost overwhelming. It removes the need for hard work and study. "

Also, here's an excerpt of the book I've found somewhere

Hi @guyan
Thanks for your comment.

This is what I think you could share that may be of interest. You can choose one or as many of the following:

What you where looking for before getting the product?
Which where your expectations? What you where looking for?

What did you find that you where expecting?

What did you find that you didn't expect?

What did you like the most? why?

What you didn't like? Why?

How is this product in relation with other products that you know and liked (or didn't liked)?

It is ease to use (or understand)?

It is useful? Did you applied what you learned? How it whent?

Do you reccomend it? why?

Do you know something better? or Worse? alternatives to?

In a nutshell. What was your experience?

Hope it helps.

May you prosper more too!
