I thought I would never be able to contribute to this community to the level offered by so many.

This post is most sincere.

I am a qualified Microbiologist with a B.Sc.,

As a microbiologist I have been analysing information about the Corona virus for weeks.

This is solid information. Do not wait to hear it from someone else to take action.

Re Corona virus transmission i.e. method of passage from person-to-person.

I want to tell you, in simple terms how to stop picking it up and how to stop passing it on.

* This virus is NOT airborne.

* If you come in contact with an infected person you pick the virus up by direct contact i.e. hand-to-hand (shaking hands) or by droplet water spray from their mouth to your nose, eyes or mouth.

* This virus survives in the wild for up to 13+ hours on hard, non-biological surfaces e.g shopping trolley handles, shopping basket handles, door knobs, toilet seats and handles, car steering wheels ..

* Humans pick it up on their hands and then pass it to their nose, eyes or mouth by their own hand.

* Stopping this passage, stops the virus getting into your body where it can go into 'manufacturing mode' and make you sick and contagious.

*Everyone needs to wear gloves.

*Latex gloves or plastic gloves e.g. Marigold kitchen gloves or garden gloves or regular winter gloves.

*The virus will stay on the gloves but it will stop you touching your face and allowing the virus into your body.

*Next everyone needs to wear glasses.

*Safety glasses or sunglasses or sports glasses to stop hand-to-eye contact.

Finally everyone needs to carry a tissue or tissues to avoid hand-to-nose contact.

This virus will die away if we keep it out of a host factory i.e. the human body

Knowledge is power. In my humble opinion: conspiracy propagators have vivid imaginations and they seek their 15 minutes of fame by stirring the worst in mankind. Everything in their world is concealed including their minds. They see 'dots' and they join them, without investigation, to paint the worst picture. This is mass projection of the picture they have in their own mind. Psychological projection of their own inner turmoil and angst. One does not have to be a Psychologist to observe this. It is a coincidence that a major military grade laboratory exists in close proximity to the city of Wuhan in China, where the outbreak began. If the outbreak had started in New York could the same not be said about some top tier biological facility in upstate NY with the same proximity to centres of learning. The nature of human protective bias, makes us fear what we do not know. This plague is an assault on humanity. The Chinese have suffered and they understand this Corona Virus. Now, they are doing everything in their power to help humanity. When all is said and done, after this crisis abates and we get to grips with the contagion spread, the W.H.O. and every other agency will have to help China (and S.E. Asia) educate their farming community. The agri-community are going to have to adopt better animal husbandry, better veterinary inspection and modification of cultural myths surrounding exotic 'snake oil' medical benefits. Live 'creature' markets are going to have to be guarded and strongly policed. The zoonotic cross-contamination from Bats to Pangolins (never heard of them before Covid) to humans will happen again, if we do not stop this transmission. Scientist have been warning mankind about this method of transmission for years. Zoonotic cross-contamination along with modern vectors (i.e. aeroplanes) are the root cause of this plague on 'homo sapiens' i.e. us. It will happen again, if we, as a species, do not act. Even 'Bill Gates' tried to warn the world. The whole world is listening now. Stop with the conspiracy theories, they are unhelpful. We have bigger 'fish to fry'! Wear gloves and wash your hands for 20 seconds as often as is required. Assume your protective gear is contaminated on use and handle accordingly. Also, assume everyone you meet has the virus and act accordingly: keep your distance and/or wear a mask (assess the risk). If you have read this message, STAY AT HOME, in quarantine, unless you are a vital worker. To all our vital workers, thank you and keep safe. It is going to be painful. We will prevail. I read that licorice is 4x the power of any anti-viral. True or not I purchased a bottle of licorice extract from the vitamin shoppe, it put 10 drops in 1/4 cup of water every morning.
It can't hurt. I live in NY, and so far so good. Offcourse I am taking all other measures like washing my hands, social distancing and now I will wear a mask.

This is the very first internet post I saw, that made me realize the severity, the lethality and the enormity of what we are dealing with. I am a regular Joe!

... ... my point is .. .. the US government and its specialist adviser, 'Dr Anthony Fauci', is only advising people to wear masks now. What the heck! This 'Ebola Professor, Dr. Peter Piot ' should have been one of the first points of contact, advice, communication, action and direction (IMHO). This is a crisis and in the initial phase of a crisis everything goes wrong and blame is futile and unhelpful. Use your own common sense. Please stay at home, but if you have to go out, take every precaution. The Italians are now relaying information they got from the Chinese. The virus survives on roads for three days +/-. So, remove and thoroughly soap wash your shoes outside your living space. That is why we saw the images of the Chinese wash disinfecting there roads and paths. We are at war. Take no risks. Stay calm, stay quarantined and wash your hands. I have no idea why I felt compelled to share this. Keep safe.
