UPDATE: DIY Ways to Translate The
Content of the Resource Packs

I decided to make this a separate post because it relates to translating the resource pack documents in Worksheet Crafter from German to English.

First off, Worksheet Crafter (the software itself) is available in German, English and Portuguese. There is an online call for help with translating the software to other languages by the company, so they DO recognize the need for this option.

But my post deals with translating the RESOURCE PACK content only --- the bundles of templates, worksheets and other varieties of pages you can create using the software. It appears that they are all in German.

There are batch-translator tools online you can use. The problem is, it's very time intensive to input all the documents through.

Plus, you may not get a perfectly accurate translation.

But you don't really need perfectly accurate translations!

The point of translating these is NOT to use or sell as your own but rather, to get a sense of understanding the content of the document only.

This software isn't a private label rights (PLR) creator!

You want to use the existing resources as design inspiration to create your own products.

And for that purpose, you only need a translation that's good enough to give you some idea of what the German language content says. Once you get the basic message, you can then re-create the document with your own content, then making a few clipart design tweaks and such.

Below, I am dropping a link to a very useful site that spells out your options for doing batch translations in 2022:

One of the translator resources is called DeepL and its workspace is very user-friendly. Here's what that looks like:

Using this Google Translator look-alike, you can drag-and-drop PDF, Word and PowerPoint files directly into the translator window on the left. Use the drop-down arrow above the window to set the original document's language or leave it set to "Detect language."

In the right window pane, you can do the same with the drop-down arrow or set it to the language you want the documents translated to.

I used it to translate a snippet of Spanish and didn't even have to click any buttons. As the text was input, it automatically changed the Spanish I typed into English in the right-side window pane.

It even gave me a couple of alternate expressions --- a different way of saying the same thing.

There are free versions of DeepL Translator for PC/Win as well as Android and iOS but as you will see on the website, restrictions apply.

But if you will be translating more than 5,000 characters (which are individual letters or numbers, including punctuation or symbols) or 3 locked documents a month or if you need your data to be secured during translation, you should look into getting DeepL Pro.

That's an entire month to use this tool. I'm sure there will be some limits but still, you can put it to the test big-time over 30 days.

There are other translation options but some are quite complex.

I searched Google to find additional batch file translaters, using keywords like these:

Here is one I found where you can change the languages using the drop-down arrow below the search field (go from Deutsch to English or vice versa). It appears you can upload a batch file of documents and do the translation and it's free (I think!)...

You can uncheck the box under MENU to get rid of language pairs you don't want to show and otherwise customize the workspace.

Even so, this comes with its challenges.

For example:
- I don't know how to use it (haven't played around with it yet)
- I don't see a way to upload the batch files
- It seems to require you to register an account to log in before using and I don't know if that's free
- It looks like an airplane dashboard (well, I'm being a bit melo-dramatic but it certainly looks daunting to the uninitiated!).

Despite all this, you still have plenty of options when it comes to translating those resource packs to English (or any other language).

Sure, it takes time. But when you consider that Worksheet Crafter cuts your printable creation time in half and the results will have your products looking professional, what's a little extra time?

You're saving money with the download because Worksheet Crafter requires a yearly option (renewed payment each year). So now, you can get free (and low cost) options to translate the worksheets to any language you choose.

So if you don't have a German-speaking friend who can volunteer to help with translating or the money it takes to pay a professional to do the job, a Google search could find you the perfect tool to get this done.

HOW TO MAINTAIN CHANGES WHEN YOU
MODIFY THE FILE HOST

This may be a bit of over-kill but I prefer to assume that not everyone here has the same level of knowledge, skills and abilities so, therefore, they MAY need a little hand-holding in following directions that are unfamiliar.

Personally, I find the instructions in Worksheet Crafter to be woefully lacking in specifics. It is written more for people who routinely work with crack files. It's long on WHAT to do but leave out the details on HOW to do it.

So, this is my effort to help newbies or anyone else who wants this program to work but may be worried about screwing up the setup. This UPDATE is to address the issue that GalaxyQuest2 reported, that the modifications made to the filehosts were not being saved because the host file was set to "Read Only."

If you are unable to save your changes, read the two resources I added below for help.

READ THIS FIRST!

DO NOT ATTEMPT to modify the hostfile on any computer in your workplace. That is the realm of your workplace's Internet Technology (IT) Department (and you most likely don't have access to it anyway).

DO NOT ATTEMPT to modify the hostfile on any computer in any facility where the computers are for public access, such as a community center or school/university library.

Use these instructions on your own, personal computer and ONLY IF you are unable to save changes made to your hostfile when working with a crack or patch or other blackhat program.

The modification of the hostfile is intended to bypass the program's ability to check for registration keys that authenticate the user during instalation, updates; or it may change a file to trick the software into allowing the cracker to use it as if the correct serial key had already been entered.

I have downloaded and tried 3 - 4 of this software (for mac) also 1 for 2021, but the software will and will not open. No one will open. I will not change any Mac Host files. So it is ok, if is not working.
