@dstoltz these links are good links but like any other link they could be really helped by being in a link structure.
If I was you for a local site, I'd get an expired domain in the same niche with half decent stats, restore it using the wayback machine, host it on a cheap hosting completely seperate from any other domains you have, point some of these links to it and then point some lesser strength links to the tumblr sites. Then I would let it sit for a while, make sure the restored site is indexed then point it at the local money site.
Do that a few times and then you can point a few of the Tumblr links as well to the money site.
Depending on what you are looking to rank this will most likely be enough to get way up there.
It's what I do as well as citations, Press Release etc and I rank number 1 for most of the terms I'm looking to rank for.
Hope that helps out, oscarslater

Thanks @Oscarlslater. Pretty much the same that I would say.
I am not sure if in reality anyone would actually fire only 1 type of links unless for experimentation purpose. But they are as powerful as any other PA 20+ Web 2.0 can get. It is only that popular SEO gurus are not talking about it.
But to answer this theoretical question precisely - Yes, these links are good enough alone. I have seen one marketer do it firing somewhere around 15 high authority tumblr links.
But now since I have this Tumblr Matrix product, decided to have my own data with my own experiments. Around 7 days back, fired 5 Tier 1 and 5 Tier 2 links to one website which has seen no link building since last 1 month. The content is not touched since the tumblr links were fired to make it as close to single variable testing as possible. Only extra things I did was firing a Google drive stack to the Tumblr blogs.
In 2-3 days, I could see one properly optimized Tumblr blog ranking in Google US desktop on page 3/4 on its own for 2 keywords. As a tier 1 property, it shows its importance. I kept different content in all those 5 Tumblr blogs to see the efficacy of a particular content type. Not surprisingly, the Tumblr blog with my preferred content ranked. In this thread, I discussed the content strategy.

So I have an equally optimized blogspot blog also as Tier 1, but it is no where in Top 100.
So, yes it is powerful as Tier 1 to push your money site. I would say more powerful than any of your freshly registered Web 2.0 ring. None of them give the opportunity to leverage a old aged high authority account.

REVIEW:
Firstly, NithyaLife was very responsive and helpful when I messaged him. I received the report very quickly after I had sent my payment.
I quickly skimmed the report to get a feel of the concept and the processes involved. I then read through more slowly, paying attention to the specific steps required.
The report is very well presented, easy to understand and the concept is sound.
About three hours ago from writing this review, I decided to test the process of finding good quality expired Tumblr accounts.
I downloaded the recommended software packages (Free trial) and, so far, I have found and register two new Tumblr accounts both of which have a DA >20.
This system works. It requires a wee bit of effort but I'm confident that I will have a portfolio of valuable Tumblr blogs that I can easily monetize within the next few days.
If you want to build your own PBN, this is an excellent investment. You can use your PBN as part of your own SEO efforts or you can "rent" links. Either way, your investment will be more than repaid in a very short time.

My review
I'm not into seo, nor I know anything about Tumblr, so I guess my drive was to get my feet wet for a reasonable price, as I was lucky enough to get a review copy.
That being said, This is the BEST guide I've ever stumbled upon over the past 10 years, I'm involved in this industry. 50 normal font pages, without the annoying repetitive fluff.
The amount of information is huge to the point, yet easy to read, getting the reader all the way, from what tools to use, to how to benefit the most out of it. The way it's written, tells me that this guy knows his shit and doesn't hold any crucial info back.
Definitely worth it
I'll update with my results as soon as I find the time to put it into action

My reason for using high authority expired Tumblr links was watching couple of guys in closed groups using it successfully with a lot of automation. But since there is no hype around Tumblr links, I got many questions in PM and in posts as well.
So as I mentioned above, a week back started my own experiment with ONLY tumblr links. In real scenarios, no SEO would prefer that. But I was fine with some cool experiments involving ONLY tumblr links. No other links to influence the ranking. It is fun, so why not!
This site is 1 month old, has thin content, but highly content optimized for 3-4 keywords. After I fired 4-5 tumblr links, I didn't touch the content. As far as possible, I want to make the experiment only about the efficacy of high authority expired tumblr links - No other factor influencing the ranking.
Here is how the site looks after 1 week. The highlighted section shows the weekly movement. All of them are local keywords. 4 went up, 1 constant, 1 down. Not much google dancing yet except for keyword 1 which vanished from Seprs on Day 4 and came back higher after 3 days.

With this set of links, I will wait for 21 days to see how far up they go. After 21 days of stabilization, will fire another set of Tumblr links.
Current Tumblr blogs are NOT content optimized. So I plan to do that this week and send them for indexing again.
