How do you know that know one is not saying "Thank you" privately, by
simply posting reps in private without having to post that they did so publically?

That's why I don't tend to stress over these things, myself. Most people do express their thanks with reps and that is appreciated. If people find my shares intriguing and useful that's what's most important. :)
