But the final word I guess on the matter is I thought I've made it clear that I'm not a Tony fan by any means- The only thing I've seen from him really is the Personal Power course I got from him over 2 decades ago, and watched a few Youtube clips over the years, until I stumbled upon this particular video set-

What I AM a fan of is studying cult-, or cult-like leaders, and their skills of persuasion, and control of the masses- That's the only reason why I've been so enthusiastic about this particular video set, which I stumbled upon by accident going through an old Experts Academy course- I thought (and continue to think!) that hearing the TRUTH about the industry, about his background (such as when he reveals and admits that he had to B.S. his way through his early seminars) and other similar info, would be INVALUABLE to people here-

And coming from the "Tom Cruise" of the industry, would make for some VERY INTERESTING watching, and would be coming from someone that just about everybody could recognize/identify with- And along the way, the videos also show, maybe for just a brief 4 hour stint, a more "honest" side of Tony, as again there's no rah-rah in this seminar, it's just a down-to-earth talk about what it is, what it means, and what it can mean for somebody who wants to pursue a career as an "Expert-"

I also figured that this super-ultra-rare video set has probably been buried in an obscure 2009 Experts Academy video set that I haven't seen anywhere else, and I pretty much would bet money will never end up on Youtube (unless someone here puts it up! ;^)

As to whether history will ultimately show him/conclude that he is the penultimate con-artist? We'll just have to wait and see-

Time for the shameless bump! For Tony fans (and those aspiring to be Thought Leaders in our modern day and age)- This is NOT to be MISSED!

He may be lots of less-than-savory-things, but IMO he -is- a very talented presenter - even if it is all profiteering hogwash after all:

Gullibility - or if you prefer instead - those who are 'oblivious to the obvious' is like an epidemic, and has made for lots and lots of wealthy 'gurus' whether they actually deserve their humongous wealth - or not.

Since I am not bumping and older post up, I decided to share my views. I am not a Tony Robbins fan, and I understand that his books are very well liked by a legion of fans that are hopefully not fanatical enough to shoot my post down. I have read a few, was not impressed.

The more I look at self-help gurus the I relate them with the adage: "Those who can't do - Teach", and the same goes for Forex gurus et al

Lets consider for a moment the mystery schools of ancient civilizations, where the teachings were remarkably secret, it's obvious that those secrets where kept by the elites from the public, I assume that was so because whatever they taught actually worked.

So consider that you possessed a secret, method etc. that conferred you some sort of power that at the same time made you part of societal elite.. Would you bother running seminars and selling books? What annoys me most is that they are selling mega expensive products to people that are at the verge of despair it's sick! A book should cost no more than what a book costs, slicing and dicing the information into courses and seminars does not increment the value to astronomic amounts by itself, and by the way how does the "warranty" stand? I mean we are probably mostly hackers here, and we sort of sympathise with the people that manage to "pull a fast one" and make some money out of people that are too lazy to figure out methods by themselves and don't mind to pay for re-arranged information, who knows there might even be some value to it for them, but consider desperate emotionally vulnerable paying 9k to attend a seminar to "change their lives" - It does change their life alright -> a little high followed by financial ruin.. and where is the "guru" when that happens?

If you had a "secret" that conferred you a distinct advantage over the odds, you would only share it out of kindness, and if you wrote a book that good, you could afford to give it away for free..

And by the way, there are interesting materials to study out there, if you are into that type of thing(most of them are free and under the public domain), but consider that every person is unique and self-study is likely to be key for that process to occur. My advice: scepticism is healthy and natural - inquire, study, scrutinize, you can do all of that without being closed-minded.

Just to be clear - I have never been to a TR event nor paid for his stuff - nor would I.

I agree completely with your POV about cost vs. value and the miseries created thereby.

The ones who live in luxury by their shameless vampirisms are simply disgusting - BUT:
They are also a societal standard.
More baffling is that they are actually powerfully envied by those whom the same wasteful ones regard as 'have nots' whom they sneer at, and:
They also shamelessly take whatever they can FROM those who are poor to enable them to maintain their luxuries.

A perfect example would be a man named gates:
How and why anyone would or could ever admire him has always baffled me.

All this man EVER 'invented' was a clever method to promote protected ideas that he and his gang had openly stolen from others - followed by using legal methods to beat down those whose ideas had been openly, visibly stolen - and they got away with this for decades.

Then they re-named what they'd invented as 'piracy' got behind the protected IP idea, and cried huge crocodile tears because folks rebelled enough to keep that gang from adding a bunch more zeros to their existing billions.

TR is no different in most regards, really.

He -IS- a charismatic and talented presenter though - I give him that much credit.

I like Tony's passion and drive a lot! I've never given any of his material a deep chance, mainly taking small segments and applying them. I've listened to parts 1 and 2 videos, just playing in the background, while doing some work. I do believe he brought himself up from nothing and utilized his mentors very well. Bottom line he took massive action and risk.

Reminds me of what Schwarzenegger has done for himself by finding the most knowledgeable people around him for whatever goal or task he's pursuing and learns from them. Schwarzenegger made some smart business deals way before the internet. Learning so much, and had able assistance from Joe Weider. Instead of borrowing money to buy an investment house he took advice to buy a small apartment and live in one of the apartment rooms. Smart as his personal overhead, the mortgage, was covered with the rent checks. His ROI paid off nicely from what I read.

As with any material take what can be utilized and applied in your given situation. Capitalize on it through massive action or else it's just s.hit to ponder. +Reps Theo1
