The plugin works perfectly. Maybe you could share a screenshot of your traffic stats and a screenshot of your plugin settings to get a better picture of things?

Saying you had 40k traffic and 4 followers doesn't give a full picture.

The plugin has a number of settings and one of them could be set so the plugin can't jack much of your traffic? Or maybe not much of your traffic were logged in to a G+ account when they arrived at your site?

It's hard to say why you only got 4 followers without knowing any more than what you originally posted.
