The first 12k mails per month are free and as I understand it you don't have to import anything at all - which means that your import cannot be rejected.
Mandrill will shut you down quick if the leads are junk. Also you start at a max 25 emails per hour.
Mandrill operates as a sending portal but does not offer an AR facility or system. You will need an independant content management system to merge and manage your list. Several are available - from groupmail - a desktop system - through to any number of selfhosted options. Self hosted offers more flexibility but running a self hosted server is not a simple issue - I think I may try this out with groupmail and one of my own domains (bearing in ming that the domain host has it's own issues with email volume - usually about 600 per hr unless it's a VPS) - and Mandrill. It will be interesting to see what details are included in the list.

Of course Mandrill isn much more than an API to send out mails, but that also means that they don't manage the email addresses - which means that they probably won't reject 10,000 new addresses.
Autoresponders are usually used to manage sequential mailings to members who joined the list at different times. If all 10,000 addresses "join" at the same time, that problem should never come up.
Of course the mailings won't be done automatically and you still need a solution to call the API functions. But that could be solved with some simple PHP script (you will probably find someone on Fiverr to do that for you) and an html <form> as GUI. Both could run on XAMPP easily and you wouldn't need a server/hosting. Of course this isn't the best solution for everybody, but when you also consider that Mandrill is cheaper than most AR services...

Of course if the leads actually are junk, they won't like that. But I wasn't talking about junk or no-junk. I was only talking about a service that will probably allow you to use 10,000 new email addresses without the issues you will face when doing the same with GetResponse.

That's the first time I've heard of this limit. Are you sure about that? I supposed the free 12,000 mails/month are meant to show new customers what their service is capable of. A limitation like that would result in most customers being *very* underwhelmed.
By the way: I haven't used Mandrill myself yet. But since the first 12,000 mails/month are free, what have you got to lose?
I'm positive about the 25/hour. I signed up and that's what they give you. If your emails are quality and get delivered with not many bounces they increase it for you.

Yes... a full review would be nice. delivered/clicks/sales/bounces/etc... I can mail someone's 10k email data in under 1/2 an hour and come back with results If you want. I'd just have to pause my current mailings. I can give a success rate of the data and all other info. I'll mail it to a simple email submit biz-op offer.
But that's if no one else wants to... i'll be back here in 6 hours from this post.
