1- First step before every update is to backup your theme files and database[/b]
2- delete old "Directory" theme folder
3- upload new version and install it(Dashboard->Appearance->Themes -> Add New
)

YOU had your links automatically deleted because you were redirecting them sneakily through a shortlink ad site, which is filtered by the forum now.
