For the purists among you who may decide to chime in with, "already shared, dude," or other similar annoying hogwash that only inflates their fragile egos: some of those other shared methods no longer work; also, none of them is exactly like this one; lastly, this bitch works as of today. See the proof.

The Method:

First of all, you need to get a random(disposable) city of Detroit email address, because it will not work with your real email. To create a Detroit email, go here:

Now, you need to register in the Detroit Public Library, so you can get a temporary Detroit Public Library card number.

Use the details that you got from Step 1 to fill out the Detroit Public Library form at the URL provided below (e.g. fake guy's name, address, city, which would be Detroit, State, which is Michigan, provided fake phone number, and make sure to create a PIN you can readily remember for the next step). Before clicking Register, you'll be asked to select the branch, I don't think it matters which you choose, I picked the Main Branch. Go here now:

3. Now, you will be assigned a temporary user ID. Please, write that down.

4. Finally, go to the lynda website:

Enter “detroitlibrary.org” in the field, if prompted to do so (I didn't need to), and create a new profile. Next, you will be asked for your library card number. Use the temporary user ID as the library card number.

Lynda will ask you to create a new password. Enter what you want.

Now, lynda will ask you whether you have any old account. Just select “No, I dont have any.” Since you don't have any account, you will be asked for an email address. Put your own email address there. And, done!

You have successfully created a Premium Lynda account for free. Enjoy!

Just wondering, what is the greater good in such cases? Share the method widely and get everyone's account banned after a short while or keep the method to just a few people and keep the accounts active for a longer time?

After I signed up I downloaded the Lynda app on my phone, then asked to be sent my details because I 'forgot' my password. They sent my username and I was able to create my password. Worked with no problem at all.
