Before we do anything we need to choose a keyword. You can also find keyword suggestions by using Youtube and typing a word into the search bar. Keyword suggest is another great tool.

Once you have a keyword it’s time to check out the competition. I don’t spend much time on this.

I simply look at the front page, If I see that about 50% of the videos are less than a year old then I’ll try and rank it.

Ranking your videos on page 1 of Youtube, starts with KEYWORD RESEARCH. There are some Chrome addons, that will uncover the meta data on the top ranked keywords for any keywords.

However, it's not all in the meta data. This can be an entire course. My recommendation, is to Youtube the subject, and take action on what you discover while doing your due diligence.

Take a look at TubeBuddy. And VidIQ. There is a paid and free version. Get whatever fits your needs. You may be able to get by with the free version.

PRO TIP: Using Youtube suggest to determined the keyword to go after is not always the most effective method. Do your homework, and then work on your homework.

P.S. Your TITLE IS YOUR 900 POUND GORILLA. You will get higher rankings if you use the keyword 2 times in your title.

How do you decide what keywords do you need? Does it depend on the content that you have?
