Yes you will need an SMTP service for sending emails out.

Dont have a comparison yet. And yes you can send HTML emails and it comes with templates. You should read the sales pages and also the video on the sales page. Has a lot of info there.

Can you please tell me how Gmail handles this and if all of the emails will end up the spam with a big danger warning because that is my experience with a lot of the lesser known softwares of this type, Google doesn't trust the IP it is originating from especially if a lot of users abuse the software. Looking forward to your thoughts.

That is up to the SMTP service you choose. This autoresposnder does not come with SMTP. You set the SMTP and then use your domain and make sure your domain IP is not blacklisted and make sure you configure DKIM and SPF.
