SEO is simple. It's just another alternative word of Backlink.
You need to find quality backlink. An ordinary way would be contacting other website and ask for link, build relationship. But if you don't want to do these things and you want to own every links. You need to create a blog network that you control yourself. It's a bit super-safe blackhat strategy that most SEO gurus are using everyday to rank on Google.
If you want to know how to do these things, I recommend checking out Alex Becker's site: source-wave.com or join Source ROI, Source Infinitum or join Rankings Institute or Bring The Fresh (a cheap alternative) or download a free Rank Profits report on wso section of this forum. in fact, its not free.

What's up bro. Off99555 is correct to an extent; anyone who has never ranked for a competitive term would say SEO=Backlinks, but nowadays, you can rank local with semantic or publisher mark up(zero backlinks). Sure, Becker and rankings institute are "good", but when it comes down to huge ecommerce sites where real money is exchanged, no amount of backlinks will help you rank against "underarmour" or "nike shoes". The SEO becomes something totally different when if you ever work for a huge ecommerce biz.

Anyways, for your situation. If you just want to rank for your own brand name, then You can rank #1, get a HUGE brand mention of the right vertical of the page, rank with a bunch of videos, press releases and images by simply connecting your company G+ with google maps and adding a publisher mark up. You can do this with 0 backlinks, and rank forever. Just google on how to get your biz listed on google.

Alex Becker seems to be well-known guru. I know that his work is avaliable under the VIPs Section.
Don't need it for now, but if you are willing to learn, I advice you to spend some money for a VIP here and they grab his stuff.

I'm also wondering, how can I put my location on a google map, I know it will helps my ranking (or google will show my company as a nearest local company).
