is possible that google asked it because you has created your google account in japan (is only an example) and so, when you try to use some app of google if you stay already connected, then probably you will see errors with your account or in this case captchas, afther use HMA try to disconnect of google, HMA like name say, HIDE MY ASS, is only for hide your IP and change for another, the use depend of you and sure is secure, if want to try a permanently IP from another country, i will recommend that you use PPTP connection, take a look at tutorial in your panel member section.

Its not permanente, you can change the IP when you need, but you need get the IP and password in the member panel of HMA site.
Anyway, one simple way to use secure IP, go to left panel "Secure IP Bind" > Enable, and whatever program that you need to use a secure navigation add with the below button "Add New Aplication", restart your computer.
Now for connect go to left panel in "Dashboard" in Protocol select PPTP, your location and connect.
