A member of the anti-vaccination movement in northern Italy converted to science after being treated in semi-intensive therapy because of Covid-19.

Lorenzo Damiano was one of the leaders of the denials in Treviso, a province in the Veneto region, a bastion of the Italian ultra-right, and had participated in demonstrations against anti-Covid vaccines, but ended up contracting the disease during a trip to Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina .

The virus made him spend a week in the semi-intensive care unit at Vittorio Veneto hospital, something that ended up changing his mind about immunizations. “After that period, I now have a different view of the world and I am going to get vaccinated,” Damiano told Venetian newspapers.

An activist convinced against the "health dictatorship", the Green pass, a supporter of home care rather than vaccinations, found himself facing Covid firsthand and, he says, "my vision has now changed". Long days of hospitalization in the sub-intensive therapy of the Vittorio Veneto hospital, under oxygen, have evidently proved it. For a long time he has understandably not answered messages, phone calls. Yesterday, from the department, he instead answered the questions and sent some videos, showing himself definitely recovering and above all a lot changed.

We need, Damiano continues, "to start over from scratch". "In the meantime, however - he points out without hesitation - get this vaccine because it saves your life". Vaccine that must be "authentic and shared everywhere in the world". Also in terms of the green pass, an instrument that has long been opposed with press conferences, events, sit-ins, flyers, the 56-year-old from Treviso admits that he has changed his mind: «Do I still think as before? No ... but it is a tool that must be updated with criteria and common sense ». He concludes by saying once again "yes to the vaccine", Damiano, who from today will finally be able to go home. "Let's win this battle and save the next generations."

Marcus Birks: Funeral for one-time Covid sceptic

Musician Marcus Birks, 40, from Leek, Staffordshire, died in August after being admitted to Royal Stoke University Hospital.
After initially declining the vaccine, he had said he was "shocked" to have become so unwell.

While in hospital, Mr Birks said information about the virus had been skewed by social media and conspiracy theorists, and he had not had the vaccine.
Speaking to the BBC in August while in intensive care, Mr Birks said his symptoms started with a flu-like feeling, which got progressively worse.
"First thing I am going tell all my family to do is get the vaccine and anybody I see," he said.
Mr Birks died before the end of the month.

Hello, Vivekananda.
I just stopped by to see how your thread was progressing.
I am long out of this slugging match. However, I have one question for you.

Why are you so invested in this whole debate?

Here you still are, verbal sparring with other members - to what end?

* Do you have shares in a pharma company?
* Are you on a mission to save lives?
* Or are you just trying to win this argument?

If it is the latter, then I think you are pissing against the wind buddy. (it's a UK phrase)

Some of the points you have made are good, others are not so solid.
However, one thing is clear to everyone here - except you it seems - and that is...
... you are not going to make anyone here change their mind - including me.

No matter how much you research, copy and paste and bash away at your keyboard.

* I have made up my mind based on solid science and personal knowledge from within the NHS.
* I am not stupid, feeble-minded, gullible or deluded.
* I am not Antivaxx per say, I have had all my vaccines up until this plandemic.
* I'll wager the others, that are of the same opinion as me, on here, are the same, or similar.

I have however, had a son vaccine damaged by the MMR vaccine which started a 12 year long
in-depth research into vaccines and the damages they can cause, and the lies the pharma
companies tell. I am not a newbie to this!

Do you think you are going to change my mind?

So, why not just agree to disagree with the others and get back to marketing?

Again, I ask you - what do you expect to achieve by keeping this going?

Time will tell and we will see who's the last man standing.

And I'd wager that half of the most enthusiastic anti-vax zealots on here made their decision not based on science, but on emotions, and then set out to find proof to justify their decision.

Otherwise, if you rip apart someone's "number one reason" for their decision that they made based on "solid science", they'd want to reconsider their pov, no?
