REVIEW
So, had a quick look through this, its not really new information - but there is no reason why it won't work, and if definitely wouldn't take you very long if your goal is quickflip/turnover. Is it worth 5 dollars? Probably, but, domain names are a pretty saturated market - and exact match domains are increasingly being considered spammy by search engines - but I guess a customer does not quite need to know that lol! STEPS: 1. Buy geo+business type domain names (NashvilleDentist.com) with a coupon. 2. Email business owners that you have xyz domain name for sale 3. Sell for $100 dollars 4. Transfer the domain name + offer to redirect theirs for free. 5. He then says you can do the obvious - upselling websites/seo/sem etc... MY OWN ADVICE and Tips For someone showing people how to make money - he leaves out some really important steps that could earn you more - although, I suppose the goal is to churn and burn as quickly as possible and not have to deal with "clients" =P 1. He says to have them signup for a Go-daddy account if they don't already have one, but he did not mention that if you are having them do this, get an affiliate account and have them signup through your link - you will get commissions from it if they purchase anything else like a hosting plan, or another domain name and I believe some kind of service - you can also do this with any other hosting site, most of them offer domain name coupons. 2. He does not mention anything about stats - search the keywords in Keyword Planner, or w/e keyword tool you use - if the stats are good, you can send a picture of them along telling the owner that people are actively looking for this and they are missing out. 3. Sell it as a landing page - since you are targeting multiple customers in the same business, create an easily copied design of 1-3 page landing page and upsell the domain name + the landing page for an extra $100 or w/e. $200-250 is a price most local business owners would probably adore for a domain + website of 1-3 pages of content w/ lead capture. But, be sure to make no promises, do not tell them it will increase leads, or anything of that sort - that will get you in trouble - just tell them that the landing page is designed with the user in mind, is mobile compatible (don't make one that isn't) and makes it easier for a user to contact the business. The good thing about this would be you could easily upsell SEO or additional pages/content. Giving them that choice could easily make you a few extra bucks on the sale. There are probably a ton of other ways to expand on this, but those are just the ones that came to mind when I was reading through it. |

Da.mn!
ThaiJack and R4G3! Thanks and gave you both +5s! Excellent job of posting! You saved me the pain of the obligatory, glaring sales page image and having to scroll for ten minutes to find the download! Hell - that's worth +5 all by itself. I APPRECIATE you just posting it as you did. If I want to see the sales page, I can click the link. R4G3 - OUTSTANDING REVIEW! Excellent in all aspects - and you could put a WSO or product and offer together with just the additional info you posted. Just expanding on your post would be a solid product and, if you know lots more - you may have a course. Don't assume market saturation - that is often a market full of people that are rabid about getting new tactics and strategies. It's like any other market - if there is lots of activity - you can sell your expertise. It's a mistake to assume everyone knows what you know. I've made lots of money in markets everyone said were "saturated." The info in the download was just okay, and wasn't anything really new - unless you have never tried this. It was a quick read and a refresher. I AM NOT a domain specialist. The only (very) minor point I disagree with this is this: "exact match domains are increasingly being considered spammy by search engines - but I guess a customer does not quite need to know that lol!" Exact match domains are only spammy if you don't do the other stuff you know you should do (or sell) to develop them. Great content with an exact match domain and the right recipe of conservative SEO still works extremely well. And absolutely NOTHING trumps great content! And exact match domains are still the sexiest ones to sell to offline businesspeople. Offliners will pay top dollar to get them, and no false scarcity exists with them. There can only be ONE - they can either buy it from you or head down the road. Every once in a while, I pickup a few of these just to check people's pulse. Hell, they are ALWAYS easy sales and even exceeding 1000x ROI is very doable with the right ones. And we all know the great myth about SEO, right? If you can drive targeted traffic or are willing to buy it - page one is (almost) meaningless. You will make all the money you want to make as long as you can drive buyers to your page, site or offers - but that's a totally different skill area than is being discussed here. It takes about 30 seconds to completely disarm someone selling SEO if they don't really know their s.hit - when you know how to do it. Great job - both of you!
You have to learn the rules of the game. Then you have to play better than anyone else. -Albert Einstein

SEO in and of itself is no longer a viable option - in most cases with small business owners I nearly always recommend an SEM campaign with onsite optimization, and recommend SEO be targeted to Google Local - Local Optimization + SEM is usually the best win + if you do fulfillment, you can charge either flat rate or %. But yeah, =P - If you focus on Driving/Direct traffic through alternative means, you can totally get away with dupe content and other SEO no-no's =P |

RE:
This is a classic method which I heard about at least 4 years ago (and have used successfully).
Another twist, which I think is even better, is to create a mini-directory on the geo-domain. For example, on SeattlePlumber.com you put up a list of local plumbers. Then you have a credible reason to contact them to check their listing, and oh by the way, the domain/site is for sale. This was the idea in a WSO that did very well a few years ago, but it would be even easier now because there are a bunch of directory WP themes/plugins that would make it easy to do. In fact, I think I will revisit it myself:) |
