That could be looked at a multitude of ways.

Trapped in a building collapse, your phone has a signal, but your battery is just about to die. You don't have enough battery to make a call, but you can send a short text. Write quickly before the giant steel swinging beam right above your head plunges on top of you... and snufs out your puny existance once and for all.
