@jackdono
Your experiment proved the download blocker rocketed your posts to the top of the charts in record time!!! Perhaps this is a good thing to do...

Nice to be mindful/thankful, but we are neglecting the true reason why any of us are even here. Anyone remember that reason, or are we just going to continue the trend of five-finger discount over progress?

.
Ok, ilikeseggs, please tell us... what's the true reason why any of us are here?

I suspect most people are here hoping to learn how to make money using the Internet.

RE: [GET] Sell The Meeting by Scott Channell
I for one give reps for every single thing I download, but only comment AFTER I have looked at the item shared and can make a judgment call about whether it is good or bad from my point of view...

I know that commenting moves the post to the top of the list and some OP's like that... But I like to offer value and going to a thread and seeing 9 pages of THX... and one a single comment that tells you anything about the item is just a waste of time.

I very much dislike the:

Comment
Rep
PM me for links

style of posting. You see these and to me they are killing the threads. If someone leaves a decent comment and it is buried on page 22 out of 34 pages, nobody sees it.

When I share I never do that. Sure I want some reps points for the effort, but that is up to the community. I ask for them, but don't force anyone to give them.... BUT, if I get a PM asking me for a reup of something, the two things I look at are, How long they been a member and how many reps they got.

I see these peeps that have been here since 2011 and have 7 rep points.... I don't respond at all... But then I see someone like Layna who is at the very heart of awesomeness on this site. When she needs something, I check all my drives (Currently plugged into 40 TB live storage) and if not in my library, I have a number of select sites I know of and will do a search for her.

It's all about community. There will always be Givers, Takers, Neutrals, Heros, Leechers, and Dirt Bags.

It's up to you to decide which role you want to play!

Cheers,

G.S.

@GordonShumway

Which question encouraged you to join the forum?

1. What's in it for others?
2. What's in it for me?

If you're like most people then your answer is most likely the second question. It's possible your position would naturally evolve as you received more value and then you would consider the first question.

I recognized that each person proceeds along at their own pace. Some consider the first question quickly while other may need a considerable amount of time to consider it. Perhaps it is about the difference between feeling gratitude and feeling entitled. Gratitude encourages contributions and entitlement encourages demands. I believe everyone has value. The first advantage in life is to discover one's one value. The second advantage is to discover the value of various groups of people. One way or the other, everyone is good for something!

I agree with Armoni, I thought giving a rep was far more valuable than the comment. The rep said thanks and boosted reputation. Sometimes when tired or rushing, I just do reps, but here a tall thank you for all you do!!!! Plus Reps!!!
