Let me be the first to congratulate you on a wonderful share. I've said this again and again but I am so proud of you, batman1101. You have become a stellar sharer. You find such great content and I appreciate your generosity in letting us all in on some of it.

Of course, you know how I feel because we keep in touch via PM regularly but I had to say this out loud on the public forum.

I spend a lot of time asking more people here to start being more useful to the community (and stop draining it of value).

Few listen. Or care.

You are one of the very few --- and look at you now. You're a sharing superstar. Perfect 10 Perfect 10 Perfect 10

Kudos and thanks and max reps all rolled into one.

ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW...

For anyone wondering why the course sign up form is asking you for a website URL (I know I did!), you can just ignore that. I input my email only and got subscribed to the course instantly. I hope that helps.

Thanks

Thank you batman1101 for this as always an awesome share... Below is a shorter URL to sign up... I am happy to remove it if you prefer to change your link.

I have tried to open the page - Publishing template for cook book (Pages format) all it does is downloads a notepad (txt file) full of gobbledygook. Am I missing something here?

Hi, GalaxyQuest2. No, you're not missing anything. I had the same experience, so I asked Google what to do.

Pages is a file extension for documents created in a word processing and page layout program (Apple Pages) designed for the Mac OS --- similar to Microsoft's Word documents for PCs.

But you will be happy to learn that you can convert these docs into other formats so you can use the download.

Here are some links Google gave me that you (and others) may find helpful:

But if you're short on time and don't want to click links to read instructions, here's a cheat-sheet you can use:

AND HERE'S MORE HELP
(... If You Need It)

Now, I know that you (GalaxyQuest2) and others here can follow the cheat-sheet instructions without help; but I'll just go ahead and post the 5 Easy Steps I took (that worked like a charm) in case there are any real "newbies" who can use a little guidance. I believe the biggest mistake us more experienced computer users make is assuming that everyone knows what we know.

STEP 1: Right-click on the original .Pages file and select COPY to duplicate the file.

STEP 2: Right-click again anywhere in a blank area on your desktop and select PASTE to place a copy of the .PAGES doc on the desktop (in case something goes wrong with the original, you will have that).

STEP 3: Right-click on the original .Pages file and use the context drop-down menu to select RENAME. This gives you the option to change the actual name of the file, the file extension or both. I kept the file name the same but instead of .pages, I selected .pages and replaced it with .zip as instructed in the shortcut.

My computer gave out a little chime and presented me with a notice that I had made the change. So, I clicked the button to approve the change and there was a new file on my desktop with the same name but a .zip extension.

STEP 4: Extract the zip file using .WINRAR or WINZIP (or whatever you use to extract archives). You can right-click the file and choose the option to EXTRACT TO the same name of the existing file. A folder will automatically be created on your desktop by that name with all of the extracted files inside.

STEP 5: Click the newly created folder and (like that uber-popular GEICO commercial featuring the hip-hop group Tag Team...)

Happydance Happydance Scoop! There It Is! Happydance Happydance

But now, like the lady in the kitchen on that commercial, I can't stop dancing to Scoop, There It Is! 10rofl

Enjoy!

Once again Layna61524 you have saved the day, it was as you stated a simple process.

I have uploaded the zip file to Mega in case anyone wants it... I hope that's okay

Files would not open in my normal graphics editor (PHOTOED) as they are tiff files, I assume these are MAC files so I used my trusted Ant Renamer and changed the extension from tiff to tif now opens a treat, just thought I would add this for Windows users

I appreciate that tip, GalaxyQuest2. I noticed the extra "t" on the .tif file extension, so I will try your work-around. Is Ant Renamer required and is it a free download? Or can I just rename them .tif for the same effect?

In the meantime, in case you don't see my question, I will search Google for Ant Renamer, so no need to respond.

UPDATE
=====

Okay, I found the app as a free download. I installed it and tried to convert the .tiff files in my Self Publish a Cookbook Template folder but I did not see an option to change them to .tif --- can you tell me the process you followed to convert using this tool? Or can I simply manually do it?

Never mind. I manually dragged and dropped the .tiff files into Ant Renamer and used the ACTIONS field in the menu and selected CHANGE EXTENSIONS and typed tif without the (dot) then clicked GO. That worked. All the files were converted.

Now they open in my Paint program.

Thanks

@GalaxyQuest2: It seems to be sorted out but I had to do it manually. I've never done a batch conversion so I'm still playing around with it. Happy so far. I answered one of your PMs ... I didn't get the email with the course details either; I'll check back later or tomorrow.

UPDATE --- THURSDAY, MARCH 11, 2020
=====

@GalaxyQuest2: I just checked and I now have the course email. You will first get a confirmation email and you need to click the button to confirm your email address. The next email will have info on the course and an overview video you can watch. Upon clicking that video image or the link, you will be inside the course with all access.

Partial screen-shot of the course opened on my computer

So, I'm a Happy Camper! Thank you again, batman1101. Happydance Happydance

I am saving all of the content to my computer like so --- as I go down the left side menu for each course section:

* I use IDM (any downloader tool will do) to grab the videos and any extras like PDFs he links to;

* I select all of the text on the page for each section and use a Print to PDF utility to save it as a PDF document. To help keep all the sections in chronological order, I place a number and a dash before the title before saving it to the folder. That way, all parts that belong to the same section gets saved together.

This looks like a pretty comprehensive course. In addition to the WELCOME, there are Six Sections in all.

WELL...

I tried to download the entire course in one sitting but so far, I only have access to the section named in the email (Overview). I'm not sure whether he plans to send a separate email for each section (that would be crazy!) but I wanted to know if anyone else was in and getting an error message that say: "Enroll for the Course or Sign In" for the other parts.

Maybe I should go back and read the entire email to see what's what.

Maybe I did create a login and just forgot it (but I have Roboform for that!).

Maybe I should just log off for tonight and start over tomorrow because I'm actually exhausted.

SORRY!

I didn't read all the way through the sales copy that batman1101 provided. It appears we will get an email a day for a week and the links to the course will be provided that way. We do not have full access to the course all-at-once.

Thanks
for reading!
