Quick review....basic premise...author used example of selling Google plus service but states could work for any offline service.
Gather up and go through your local print media. Newspapers, mags, yellow pages etc...(I would add direct mail you receive such as VAlPak) Cut out the ads. ( I would suggest cut the ads of the higher average price per sale/customer...) Go to Manta and find biz owners name, address and phone. Attached via paper clip the ads to piece of standard paper. Then take a marker and draw an arrow or a few to various parts of the ad with text such as “ Hi, I saw your ad in the (name of newspaper, or where ever you had found their ad) and I had an idea that I thought could really help you out with this. Give me a call at (555)555-5555 when you have a chance. I think it will help. John” Fold this up and put into a standard envelope and hand write the address, add postage and send. Wait for the calls to come in and then be prepared to field them in regards to what you are offering. The WSO is a little light on this part. I would also suggest that those who don't call you can follow up with and ask if they received your letter. *** I used a similar tactic when I was first starting out but I used the tactic of saying. "Mr. Business Owner this is a pretty good ad and I'm sure you are swamped with all the new business it has brought in. When you are caught up from the influx of new customers and need some more call me and I'll show you how adding one line of text to it you can double or triple the amount of new business you are getting. Once again good job. Keep up the good work. Regards, Me" I sent 30 letters out on a Friday afternoon. I got 5 calls on Saturday which I was totally unprepared for. By Tuesday 24 of the 30 had contacted me. I eventually sold every single one of them...wrap up...if you put in the work this is a good way for someone who is phone phobic to start generating some action.
