@EuroTrader: I don't know if you ever got your question answered but I believe I can help. I recommend a neat little software called ePubor Ultimate. I have the paid version and it's like GOLD. It is very affordable at a one-off payment of just under 30 bucks.

It strips the Digital Rights Management (DRM) from Kindle's proprietary AZW3 format in seconds.

It is constantly updated so as Amazon Kindle makes changes to its DRM, ePubor Ultimate's masterminds tweak their software to keep up with those changes.

Here's a look at the user interface:

It is so easy to use. You just drag-and-drop a book from your desktop into the central panel.

As you can see in the image above, a partial list of my Kindle e-book library is showing. So you can grab (drag-and-drop) from the left panel to the central panel to convert one or multiple books.

For example, I have Kindle for PC installed so when I buy or borrow Kindle e-books on Amazon.com, they automatically populate there. But I can grab them from that application (where I'm restricted to READ ONLY status) and load them into my ePubor Ultimate to convert and read or share with my forum friends.

Alternately, you can use the +Add link to navigate to a folder or directory on your computer and import from your Download area or elsewhere.

For example, I have Adobe Digital Editions installed for when I grab e-books from my account over at Archive.org.

It works the same way for content you get from Barnes and Noble (Nook) and there is an eReader section if you're converting to read your e-book on an Android device.

After that, you decide which format you want to convert to. If you're working with a PDF already but want another format, click the down-arrow on the blue button and select from the conversion options. Those include: e-PUB, Mobi, AZW3, PDF, Txt.

With ePubor Ultimate, I can quickly convert a PDF or other format into a Kindle format to read on my Kindle Fire. It is so versatile!

Converting takes only seconds and you will see a green check-mark upon successful completion. That little blue person icon in the upper right is where you click to access your conversions. Click that and the panel opens to wherever you save your downloads. Just drag-and-drop the converted book onto your desktop, open and read (or whatever else you're planning to do).

Let me tell you, ePubor Ultimate has spoiled me rotten because I used to use online converters and got mixed results.

There are a few good ones but for the most part, the conversions can run the gamut to being inconvenient to illegible.

For example, using Zamzar, you need to give them an email address because they send your file links that way. Not a big deal for most people but it is definitely inconvenient.

In other cases, I've seen results where the lettering was too large. Or there were no margins around the page. Or the text flowed OFF the page so you end up missing whole paragraphs of content.

Sometimes, results were so poor I simply gave up without trying to convert the e-book.

But that was all before I found ePubor Ultimate.

Their customer support is responsive and their software works as advertised. Only better!
