SPECIAL NOTES: Make sure that your launch is well-suited to the event you use. It should be a natural match; something that ties in to your product or service offer. A cookbook author, for instance, could benefit from using today (December 6, National Microwave Oven Day) to do a festive demonstration in a mall booth using selected recipes from their newly released book. The demonstration? How to take basic food groups to the microwave and turn them into nutritious, tasty meals at the dinner table in minutes. The author should have an attractive display of their books on hand as well.

DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Do your due diligence. Make sure you are knowledgeable about the event you use to promote your offer. Someone in the audience may ask a question or make a comment about it and you want to be able to speak to the topic with (at the very least) basic knowledge... but always use the first segue moment you can create --- a smooth, uninterrupted transition from one subject to another --- to focus the discussion back to your offer and how it naturally flows in with the celebrational observance.

CHOOSE AN EVENT WITHOUT NEGATIVE BAGGAGE!

Looking into the history of an event will help expose any associations that could be perceived as negative. Your launch is designed to sell products and you want your audience to be comfortable and in a good place.

Do not use an event that celebrates a time and place in the past or present where certain groups were unfairly treated, exploited or marginalized. We all have our beliefs and views and that's fine --- but when it comes to making money, understand that everyone who may love your product and pay handsomely for it will not necessarily share your views. And these people should be treated like the valued prospects they are because their money is good money. So, choose uplifting, festive events that everyone can equally enjoy; not ones that may carry a history of dated, divisive or derogatory associations.

TIME YOUR PROMOTIONS RIGHT!

Keep in mind that (in most cases) you need to plan your promotion several months in advance of an event's actual date to build up buzz about it and ensure the public's awareness of it. If the launch relies on public attendance, time the publicity months in advance.

You can get away with 1 to 2 month advance promotion for a lot of events, particularly if you use social media to promote it but for best results, several months advance timing is best. Begin issuing press releases to the media, publishing articles and blog posts and doing social media promotion NOW (i.e., December) around an event in spring (ex: March, April and May 2022).
