[GET] I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON
I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON ![]() This is not so much a share as it is a message. Look, I'm no dummy ... in the back of my mind, I SUSPECTED this could come back to bite me but I enjoy being of service to others whenever possible. Helping is in my DNA -- but sometimes, unless you're careful, it can cause problems for the person GIVING the help. I see how my Deepbrid and Real-Debrid accounts reveal my IP address when I log in. It doesn't take a genius to know that they're detecting where my account is being used. Recently, I decided to "test" if links I convert would work elsewhere. I didn't want to post the links on a public forum where thousands could see (and abuse) them. Or further share them elsewhere. Still, I needed to know... I saw a REQ thread where one person posted looking for a very popular I-M course. A small number of others posted to express their interest. The course was available on several of the free course download sites I write about but all with premium links. As I've said before, with Deepbrid costing little more than $35 for an entire year (one-off payment) of premium link downloading, I can't understand the stories I get via PM from people saying they can't afford it. It's a matter of priority, I guess but I'm not here to judge. I converted a [Reported by Members as premium hosting that SUCK! Use MEDIAFIRE or MEGA.NZ :) !!!] link and decided to send the course links to these 5 people. Earlier, I'd shared a converted link with someone looking for a design app for a phone. I felt there was no issue in sending a single converted link to one person for a product I wasn't interested in downloading myself. The problem came when I sent the huge number of course links to 5 people; at least 2 of which probably downloaded them around the same time. Thus, this got Real-Debrid's attention so they changed my account password, I suppose thinking that someone had illegally accessed my account. So it was actually a protection for me --- but locking me out of my own account served just the opposite effect. After a couple of my forum buddies private messaged me to say "Thanks!" and confirm that my converted links worked like magic, I was happy to have helped. But my happiness was tempered by the uncertainty of suddenly not being able to log into my Real-Debrid account! In all fairness, none of the people I helped asked me to send them converted links. So I take full responsibility for my actions. It was my decision and was rooted only in my curiosity with knowing whether links I generate from my account would work for others. Well, as the old saying goes, "Curiosity killed the cat!" I instantly contacted Real-Debrid support to say my password was suddenly not working. I sent that email and waited with bated breath to hear back. Now, it was just a matter of knowing if I had lost yet another fully-paid account. I'll briefly explain what I mean ... Since March of this year, I couldn't download anything from Ge.tt or access anything in my paid account there. Sometime last year, one of my Mega accounts was "locked" due to TOS violations --- re-uploading files that were forbidden that BBHF members kept posting "please re-up" for. And now, this! Today, I received a warning email from Real-Debrid. It specifically told me the course file involved and that the link(s) had been downloaded from multiple IP addresses on computers other than my own. It clearly said that my account would be permanently terminated if this happened again. I got caught red-handed! What was I thinking?!!! ![]() But there's good news! I am relieved to report that all's not lost! Real-Debrid's warning included a new password and a second chance to make a first impression. I quickly used that new password to log into my beloved Real-Debrid account and I'm in again! ![]() The first thing I did was dash off another email to their support thanking them for getting back to me in a timely manner, explaining the issue (and yes), acknowledging that my lapse in judgment would not happen again. I confessed because I am contacting the people involved to ask that they don't attempt to use the converted links but people are people. There is no way for me to control whether they do or not --- I can only trust that they won't. Real-Debrid's warning came with the admonition that if this happens any more that my account will be permanently shut down. There are only 2 other people I haven't heard back from yet so I will PM them again. But I needed to let Real-Debrid know that I've asked them not to use the links --- to delete and not share them further. And that if any additional violation occurs with this same course link then it should not be held against me. All this drama and extra energy --- just for trying to be helpful. I can only imagine my heartache had I shared those links publicly. No sooner than I started posting about these free course download sites, I'd get PMs from a few people now-and-then containing long lists of premium links for me to convert and send back to them. Each time, I refused. But again, curiosity set in and I just needed to know if my links would work for others. So, I've learned that from here onward, I won't be quite that helpful EVER again. I'm just glad that Real-Debrid responded to my support concern quickly and showed me documented PROOF that links generated from my paid account showed up from various other IPs at or around the same time. Still, they gave me another chance. Instead of the cat that curiosity killed, I want to be more like the cat that enjoys 9 lives. I've learned my lesson: Yes, links I generate from my account will work on my computer as well as others; and No, you should never share them unless you want to risk getting your account shut down forever! ![]() for reading! Quite sad to hear about the trouble that you went through to be of assistance to people. If you decided to tone down your prolific sharing, you are justified to do so. Many members here will definitely miss your service.

RE: [GET] I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON
You are one of the best I know you sent a link a few days ago via a PM (which I was not expecting I do hope that this wasn't one of those that caused the issue?.

RE: [GET] I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON
that sucks! the problem with sharing something here is that people care little to none about one's good intention, and I have some suspicions; that those you shared the link with are low quality, low rep users.
btw thanks for all your good work here in BBHF layna |

RE: [GET] I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON
Layna61524, I was just checking to see if Real-Debrid or Deepbrid have an affiliate program, and I didn't see one for either, but you should email them and ask if they have a private one you can join. I believe as VIP's we are allowed an affiliate link in our signature's, and with all of the stuff you post on here and all of the help you give people you should be able to make some money off of it!
