when people finally realize they are in business, and they get an employee or two, or perhaps you have some va's helping, or a jv partner, whatever your situation may be, there will come a time that you will need investors. successful people are always looking for the next 'big thing' they can finance so they can make boatloads of money on the work and efforts of someone else! if you have a business that is making money or product that is selling well, now is the time to get investors. there will come a time that you will need more money to grow your business faster. investors are often, not looking for a bright idea, they have enough of those. they need to see your 'financials', they need to see how much money you are already making and what you are doing to make that money. investors need this information in order to see if it is possible for your business to grow more than it already has, and often, investors will become part owners of your business, so they will want to help it grow more and faster than it already has. investors like that always ask to see your business plan, a well designed business plan with your financials listed in charts and graphs, are often a deal maker or deal breaker when dealing with investors. not having a business plan often means you will not get ANY money! a well designed business plan is that important.

personally, in the past i had my attorney draft the plan, he specialized in business plans, and other business related needs. he drafted my business plans with the help of my accountant, so i basically had no involvement, other than reading it and signing it. one day, at an event where i was an investor, looking for a business to invest in, one guy gave me a business plan that knocked my socks off. it had all kinds of charts and graphs, everything was laid out in a nice professional manner. welcome to the modern age, yes there are even templates and software now to help you create a better business plan, that makes it stand out and increases the likelihood of you landing an investor. a business plan you can be proud of as a business owner.

however, i still write the initial business plan, and i suggest you do the same, no one knows your business as well as you do! you can then have the attorneys and accountants do their thing. then i would take the final edit of the business plan and drop it into the software and print out the best looking business plan you can get for the price of the software.

but before you can get to that stage you really need to know more about business planning and how to write a business plan. so far, this is the best book on the subject. i actually just read it again, helping a friend with his business plan, so i needed to refresh my memory, i read this book originally a long time ago, in this share i will include two versions, the first is from december 1998, it was a best seller a few times over the years. and has also been updated, so i am also including the updated version from 2006. if i find more, i will share them too! but only if a few people leave +rep for this share, as always, if not enough people leave +rep, that tells me you are not interested in this, so i will not waste more of my time than i already have, and for you leeches, thanks for NOTHING! are you EVER going to leave anyone +rep?
