We should absolutely be concerned about this. I don't know if it was from the share itself, or if the file sharing site mugged me, but I just spent many hours trying to get the sh1t that attached itself to my pc out.

Look familiar anyone? That's when I first had an inkling something was wrong. It was my own stupid fault though. I was uploading it to VT but my internet was painfully slow, so I just said, bugger it, it'll be fine. :(

Shoulda known better. If I'd seen that report it would have gone straight into the bin.

It turned-off my McAfee suite so I couldn't even open it, let alone run a scan. Just kept shutting it down. Wouldn't allow updates. Meantime, the sneaky little b@stard duplicated itself and changed its name and hide away in various places. I spent five hours last night trying to track it down and delete it. I thought I had...

...however, this afternoon...

...I came in and found my laptop (which had been updating McAfee) had opened a tab at Google, which was - as I stood watching it - typing in "payp" with Google suggestions asking if "I" meant Paypal? Just then, a tab opened up at Paypal and I watched (from a few feet away) as the phantom cursor started clicking on the Paypal site. WTF!!

So, yeah! I was concerned!

My 14 year old son, who is a gifted computer God, kicked its arse though. He found the files I thought I had deleted last night, and changed the .exe's to .txt - so it didn't even know it had been found - then found the scheduled task file, the run file, the temp file and disabled them. Then he did some witchcraft that lost me totally and killed it off totally.

So, if you find your resources suddenly spiking, look for files: Mozila.exe (spelled that way), GOOGLE.EXE, CHROME, and Mecafee (spelled that way), then get yourself a gifted teenager asap.

All part and parcel of getting stuff FOC though. We take our risks when we do this stuff. I'm always grateful for shares none-the-less, as the caring and sharing members here (the well known ones) would never intentionally drop it on us, and they can be caught out like the rest of us.

Any software I download, before I install it, I do a windows defender, malwarebytes and virus total...glad I didn't install it...and even more glad you and your gifted son could remove it from your computer...
