Usually this happens when the search function spews out the search results in no specific order or when you find a thread for example on Google and not directly in the forum. The simple solution would be to have some kind of warning, for example if a user tries to post in a thread that had the last post more than 30 or 90 days ago. That won't completely stop old threads from being brought up again, but then again there sometimes might be really good reasons for reactivating an old thread. |
