There are many ways to learn this very helpful life lesson...sadly, most folks will resist learning it until their dying breath unless it is part of their own nature already, or unless they are driven to it via great force and difficulties.

Here is one great truth which relates with the idea of this book's title:
One must never attempt to struggle with the ego as it thrives on such energies;
Instead, one may simply relinquish it by shunning, as one does with an errant child when throwing a temper tantrum.
The main difference is that the child may learn from such momentary shunning - whereas no ego ever gets better, and must be shunned whenever noticed as being present.
