Same thing happened here.. It was fine the first time.. then I closed it and restarted it after a day and showing invalid license key error. Seems like we need to turn the internet off everytime before we start camtasia - which people forget to do easily.

is there any way to edit the hostfile and prevent this from happening?

Believe I still have a working Keygen used for myself. However, any of these serials should work if you do the following:

1. Install Trial Version
2. Disable network (ie, disconnect from the internet) and Enter Name/Key
3. Add this line to your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc)
(Open it with Notepad)

127.0.0.1 65.52.240.48
127.0.0.1 activation.cloud.techsmith.com

Doesn't seem to work whether the Internet is on or off. I'm on Win7 and have added the lines to my hosts file. First, I installed with Internet off, added lines to hosts file. Tried to add the key but it tried to connect to the activation server anyway and would not take the keys. Re-started, turned on the Internet and re-entered key again. Tried several keys, but activation rejected all. Confirmed lines still in hosts file.
Anybody else having the same problem?
