Also included is a free installer, so you can load Chase's directly to your hard drive.

NOTE: The mention of the CD-ROM is for the purchased paperback; not the digital download in this share.

THIS BOOK AIN'T CHEAP!

IMPORTANT NOTE: So you might wonder, why am I sharing 2009 and 2010 instead of 2019 or 2020? Well, the 2020 version is sold by Barnes and Noble and costs $95 in paperback (non-digital) format. Amazon sells the back volumes for around $45 and the 2019 book is around $33 for Kindle format. You can pick up the 2021 edition (again, in paperback format) for just shy of 100 USD ... see the link here:

But when you get down to it, the holidays/observances rarely change (a holiday observed on one day of the week would certainly change the following year, depending on the number of days in the month) but with very few exceptions (ex: newly-added entries or first-time observances) the dates are pretty much set. So you can use older (and seemingly outdated) volumes of this reference. I suggest you follow that up with an online search to verify that an event or occasion is actually on the scheduled date for the current or next year before you "go to press" with it.

Try browsing through the 2009 and 2010 volumes to confirm what I said. Very rarely will the dates of observances change.

You can use this reference to:

* Promote Your Blog or Book
* Promote Events for Your Business
* Tie-In Existing Holidays or Observances to Your Promotions
* Schedule Media Events (Press Releases, etc.) to Tie-In Observances
* Write Articles About an Event to Promote Your Business
* ... and more!

@AceX1X1: I am touched by your kind-hearted post. Thank you for expressing it. It is people like yourself here that keep me giving. Enjoy the share and best wishes for success with all your online endeavors.

@scraigwake: You're welcome, buddy. Glad I could help with this share.

@All: Thanks to the TONS of you who generously left reps for this share.

I used to purchase the paperback version of this reference book but it's not cheap and once I realized that the dates rarely differ from year to year, I quickly put a stop to that!

Luckily, I found digital versions over at {{{Blocked by Omni Potens, reason: reports from LEGIT GB STARTER}}} (Library Genesis has them and their link seems to refer you over to {{{Blocked by Omni Potens, reason: reports from LEGIT GB STARTER}}}; PDFDrive has a few years 2009, 2010 and 2005, too).

HOW BEST TO USE CHASE IN YOUR BUSINESS

This reference book is great for planning months in advance any promotional event or product launch you can reasonably tie-in to a particular celebration or observance in the Chase's annual. I find that the least-likely known observances are more fun and exciting because it gives you the platform to entertain and educate people more about it while plugging your product or service. Engage your target audience then pull them in to your promotion (offer) and they are more likely to remember you --- now and into the future --- and become loyal customers.

It is always best to do a little extra research on the holiday or observance you use from Chase's (above and beyond what you'll read about there) to serve as talking points in a media interview or for writing promotional copy but mainly, think up a realistic and believable connection between the event and your product launch for best results. The tie-in must be as natural as you can make it.

Also, be sure to run your promotion past a few reliable people whose opinion you trust. If your event involves a culture or ethnic group other than one you identify with, be sure to do a focus group or (at the very least) an informal round-table discussion with a few people from the target group to get their feedback before your planned event. Document their responses to refer to during the planning process so that your event is culturally appropriate and is more likely to get positive reviews.

Nothing is worst than making a big splash for publicity then getting negative press because you did not do your due diligence or check-in with a sample of representatives that comprise people within your target audience.

Unfortunately, some media outlets will hone in on the negatives because it makes for reality-show-like drama and gets people talking more so than anything positive you do. You will be left with the proverbial "egg on your face" and left to pick up the pieces of what should have been a very positive outcome. Bad press can break your budget and ruin your campaign.

I have heard the expression "There is no such thing as bad publicity" (meaning, so long as people are talking about you or your product, all is well). Still, I think negative press can be very difficult to overcome; especially for a smaller or relatively unknown business or if you are located in a small town. Big-name celebrities and multi-mega-million dollar corporate entities seem to be the only examples of negative press NOT having long-term impacts.

So strategize your publicity campaign for every possible scenario that could occur --- both positive and negative. Then formula a response.

Using Chase's Calendar of Events, your press releases will become interesting so you can expect a call-back from local media (newspaper, radio, TV).

Readers of your blog or books will be excited to learn about unknown events you revive interest in with your promotional campaigns.

Local residents will eagerly take part in any activities you put on (ex: contests/giveaways; treasure hunts, online entries, etc.) to engage your audience while they learn more about a special observance and how your product/service is a very special offer that can't pass up.

You can even offer one or more top prizes of a big discount (up to 50% off) the purchase of your higher-ticket product or service. Lesser prizes can include anything from e-books or special products (T-shirts, coffee mugs, pens and note pads) printed with the observance to items contributed by any partner companies you joint-venture with.

EXAMPLE PROMOTION

Remember that you will be working entire months in advance to plan your promotional campaign because time flies. If you don't give yourself enough time, your event will not get enough traction with the community and the turnout or response will be dismal. Other things like inclement weather or competing priorities (other major holidays) ... not to mention a pandemic like we're in at the moment, could all factor in your planning.

One quick example of a promotion you can do now is to plan for a Christmas or New Year launch. Looking at my 2010 Chase's reference, I see that observances for Christmas begin on page 585. You can buy radio time and promote Christmas Across the Continent (North America - USA) by running a 20- to 30-second public service announcement (PSA) promoting your product/service with a brief mention of a Christmas Celebration in New Orleans, for example (my home town) ... plus I remember seeing that little blurb on page 585.

The next hour, you can run another one in another city and do that every hour for one full week (repeating them randomly after 12 cities have been featured).

Allow local listeners to enter to win (a prize of your choice) by mailing in a postcard or texting the station with their full name, address and phone number or email address.

After the week is up, select a day to award prizes. The on-air radio personality will randomly draw a postcard each hour and do a live-on air call to a local listener. The personality will read the brief blurb to describe Christmas celebration in this particular city without naming the location. The person on the other end of the call will have 15 seconds to name the location. You can decide if there is a consolation prize in the event they guess wrongly or time expires before they can respond.

ANOTHER QUICK PROMO

The Presidential Election is coming up in a few weeks. Ideally, you would have planned months prior to November 3rd to tie-in a promotion to this major event but, for the sake of illustration, here is a nice little promotional idea using the Chase's Calendar of Events...

Somewhere at the end of the December listings (after page 621) there are several pages of details about U.S. Presidents.

You can mimic the promotion I just described on Christmas celebrations with an informational campaign about U.S. Presidents. Run a radio, TV or other campaign for a number of weeks leading up to your actual promotion. Give information about each president but not enough to make it easy to guess.

You can tie-in your promotional campaign to the Presidential Election without getting political (ex: endorsing either nominee or platform). Plan the competition so that people can enter by mail or call-in to a radio station. You are simply providing trivia type details about all or some of the most recent U.S. Presidents (the lesser-known the information, the better) while drumming up interest in your offer.

Just remember, using Chase's, you've got to plan months in advance and get the activities rolling to build up impetus towards the close of the promotion but you could be making money the entire campaign if you work it right.

I worked briefly in public relations at my undergrad university and some of this is slowly coming back to me.

Best wishes!

Thanks 61heart

RE: [GET] CHASE'S CALENDAR OF EVENTS + BONUS
Thank you for posting, GWMO. The links were recently blocked by OmniPotens and I have no idea why. They go to an ebook download site that most here should already be familiar with.

Yes, my links were to b(dash)ok(dot)cc. I have written extensively about this. There is nothing I can do but links that were previously allowed were suddenly banned and that is affecting a lot of my previous shares.
