Ryan Deiss – Boomerang Facebook Retargeting Traffic How You Can Follow-up and Convert Your Non-Buyers Into Paying Customers…Even If You Don’t Have Their Email Address. It seems that everyone these days is talking about using Facebook Ads and other paid traffic strategie. And that’s smart! Facebook is a great source of traffic. But here’s the problem: If you’re only buying Facebook ads, you’re losing up to 52% of your sales. (We were.) Fortunately, we were able to plug this hole in our marketing plan by deploying “boomerang-style” follow-up ads to everyone who hits our site…even if they don’t opt-in or buy. It’s called “retargeting.” Chances are you’ve heard of retargeting. You may have even set up a campaign or two, because you likely understand that sales rarely occur on the first visit. (Think about it, even if your site has an amazing conversion rate, that still means that 90 – 95% of your visitors are leaving WITHOUT making a purchase.) So again, you probably know you should be “following up.” On a recent campaign, out of 306 total sales, 129 of those sales [or 42%] came from our “boomerang” campaign, AND we saw an immediate ROI of 126%! The ROI was actually MUCH higher when factoring in up-sells and follow-up sales. The challenge is, most marketers simply don’t know HOW to follow up…especially to their “leavers.” So what about YOU? Are you following up with your visitors, including the ones that haven’t opted in or bought from you? Heck, did you even know that you could follow up with people that visited your site, but never bought or opted in? Yes, IT IS actually possible to follow up with your website visitors, even without having their contact information. In fact, there’s a new feature in Facebook that launched very, very recently, and it allows you to segment your audiences based on the pages they visit, and then show them “followup ads” even if they never opted in. It’s called Website Custom Audiences… …and it’s one of the lowest-cost ways to follow up with your hottest prospects and increase your sales. It’s also surprisingly simple and easy to setup. In fact, if you have a Facebook ad account, the hardest part is behind you. CASE STUDY #1: “212 Blog Posts Ideas” We initially drove traffic to a squeeze page for our “212 Blog Post Ideas” lead magnet using Facebook ads. After clicking the ad, the prospect was taken to the squeeze page and offered the “212 Bog Post Ideas” PDF for free (in exchange for their email address of course)… IMMEDIATELY after entering their email address, the prospect was offered a relevant Execution Plan at a large discount… Over 23% of them bought the Execution Plan, IMMEDIATELY. But what about the other 77%? We leveraged custom audience (and some sneaky automation tricks) to deploy this “boomerang” retargeting ad, to bring back all those visitors that opted in, but did not buy. Here’s what happened next… This simple ad reminds our prospect that they are missing out on an additional (RELEVANT) desired end result and that they can get that end result at a massive discount. The ad then drives them back to the sales page. (That’s why we call it the “Traffic Boomerang.”) And it was super easy to do!
