Does that mean these laws only affect the citizens of the said states /countries? Suppose a guy overseas, trades BTC with an American, the latter gets nabbed; what happens to the guy overseas?

He'll be drinking cocktails at the beach. Smile Unless the amount of $$$ is such that US Govt. wants to get you. In that case you go to China/Russia and live happily everafter.

Been reading the warnings and legal ramifications... informative.

- My question is whether 'funds' in your paypal account are treated as 'cash', if it's
never actually deposited into your own individual bank account.

RE:
So I decided to take the plunge and go for it. Bought CAD$320.00/BTC0.9944 at a local bitcoin ATM. Sent it to my Blockchain wallet, then onto my Localbitcoins.com wallet. Found a Paypal buyer with a fairly decent reputation and flipped it for about $80.00 profit.

Of course, the B****** reversed the Paypal payment almost immediately. Now I've lost my bitcoin and am in the middle of a Paypal dispute. Not only am I out $320.00, I'll probably also lose my Paypal account when all is said and done since currency exchange is against the TOS.

Yeah, I let greed overcome common sense, so I guess I had it comin'. Don't be stupid like me! Don't use Paypal for BTC exchanges!!!

Don't use PayPal for ANYTHING that is against its ToS. Period. Or you'll suffer.

That might depend from one PayPal allowed country to another. In my case it could almost be considered as cash since PayPal upon arrival of funds freeze them for 30+ days and then transfer them out to my local bank account connected to Visa card, on next 1st of a month.

thanks sinip, deciding to pass on this one seems too problematic. What happened to agent89 on his
1st attempt was enough of a red flag for me, hope he gets his money back
