Another Persian Site That Yields
A TON of High-Quality Stuff to Download!

Today, I was looking for a newer software by JixiPix. I know the Iranian/Persian download sites are good for giving better-than-average or high quality product downloads. I wrote about them in my share here:

http://bestblackhatforum.com/Thread-GET-...ost+unfair

If you're not familiar with Persian download sites, I highly recommend you download and read my guide before you start using them. I touch on the basics about protecting your computer and your online browsing behavior as well as give a background about these sites ... and potential risks (and it's not related to viruses).

So, here's what I did:

1. Do a Google search like this:

- Type in your keyword
- Use your computer's space bar to put some distance between the keyword and the next thing you type
- Type in the following...
site:http://download.ir

So here's an example of what I typed into Google to look for a JixiPix program I didn't already have:

JixiPix site:http://download.ir

Type this search string as I show above, only change "JixiPix" to whatever you're looking for but keep everything else exactly as I show in the example.

2. Translate or not. Your browser may give you the option to do so but I learned I couldn't in Google Chrome. So, below, I'll tell you how you won't HAVE to.

My Google search above brought me to the site that was almost completely in the Persian (Farsi) language (thus, the .ir - Iranian - website extension). My browser offered to translate the site. This makes navigating the site easier (unless you understand Farsi, of course) but I chose NOT to and made my way around just fine. Like I said, I know my way around these sites.

I simply use the visuals they place on the site to find my way. You can do this, if you know what to look for. Be observant.

Just for the record, I tried to "Translate" in my Google Chrome browser after typing this thread to share and got "This site cannot be translated." So, here's how you can easily get around without the need to translate.

It goes without saying that there will be graphic images for whatever product(s) may be looking for but there are other visual cues like little downward pointing arrows that translate to "download link here." If you simply hover or pause your cursor over these cues, it will yield information in English to tell you exactly what's there. In your computer browser's window this information will show up in the extreme left bottom edge of the browser screen.

For example, on the JixiPix page, there was a green button with white lettering in Persian. When I placed my cursor on that button, here is what appeared in the left bottom of my browser:

Here are the 4 parts of the long link:
- https://download.ir/ (you can use this link to get there but ...for now, keep reading!)
- a string of words in the Persian language/ (since I don't read/understand the language, I ignored it)
- jixipix-fold-defy (the name of the product I wanted) then more Persian language; probably a Persian translation of the product name)/
-#downloadlinks (which is the page where the download links reside)

Clicking that green button brought me to the download links. There were two of them; one for an x86 operating system and one for a 64x operating system PC. It looks like this software doesn't work with a Mac ... sorry ... but maybe it does if you use a parallel setup where a Mac can run Windows programs. I dunno...

But see ...? I didn't even need to learn Persian!

Here --- take a look at the download screen that popped up:

Despite the graphic being almost entirely in Farsi, I can plainly see the name of the site (in red) and the name of the product I was looking for (JixiPix Fold Defy). But more importantly, notice the visual cues (green graphical arrows pointing downward) that indicate download links.

Be sure to hover over the actual link on the download pages (name of file) and NOT the arrow graphic, as they may not be linked to the download file.

Here is another screen-shot of the opened files to prove I got the download:

3. If you want to learn more about a product before you download it, open another browser window and search for the product. Use the name and version number shown in the product description.

4. Follow the instructions (easy) to download.

I was preparing to use my Avast! anti-virus program and tried to open the readme.txt file. It asked for a password. So, next step:

5. Set up the master password you'll need to access any of the files you get from this site. Okay, that password is : www.download.ir

Now, if you have the option to save your passwords, please do so. Since you will need this password if you download anything from this site, it's easier to have it accessible in case you forget. But how can you forget when it's already part of the downloaded file name? Right?

Those Persian DL sites make it so easy!

Lastly, I will say this: I've been getting stuff from these Persian sites for a while now and I have yet to deal with infected files. I'm not saying you can be lax and forego using your computer's anti-virus program (or VirusTotal.com) to scan your files...it's always best to be safe than sorry.

So, the last thing you want to do is:

6. Run a virus scan. Do this BEFORE you install and use anything you download from any unfamiliar place. You've got my word that I've not had any issues with these sites or I wouldn't be here sharing advice on how to use them. However, ALWAYS SCAN for viruses. Now, if your A-V program is the hysterical kind that sounds-the-siren at the slightest little thing (ex: automatically pegs any .exe file as a Potentially Unwanted Program) you may want to use VirusTotal.com to get a second opinion.

Now, if you get scary results from VirusTotal.com, you can search online to see if there's any potential danger or cause for concern by putting the name and file extension of whatever VT says this could be. Sometimes, your AV program may need to be turned off momentarily to install the program and install the patch or crack or whatever else is involved. Just be sure to turn it back on.
And always follow instructions in the readme.txt that comes with the download. You will learn what you need to do when it comes to updates, etc. So, follow instructions.

You also have the option of opening your new download in a sandbox to protect the main core of your computer from potential dangers. Look up sandbox programs for computers; there are several but Sandboxie comes to mind.

You can easily fill up your computer's disk capacity with all the good stuff you will find available on these download sites. Don't do it. Invest in one of the sleek, plug-and-play, high-capacity external hard drives. They're cheaper than ever (at or just above $100) with the space to store multiple mega- (or even giga-) bytes of data. And if you're a girl, like me, you appreciate all the pretty colors they come in today!

One last word of caution: You will be pleasantly surprised at the dazzling array of what you'll find on these types of sites. However, here's the caveat:

*** It should be repeated that YOU SHOULD USE CAUTION. I have not had any problem with these download sites per se but I recently searched Google for Zumba when I saw that download.ir had the Zumba Complete Workout program available to download. So without thinking, I clicked the first of several links Google returned and my Avast! went berserk! So, keep your A-V program up to date and always on when you're online.

*** You won't (necessarily) find the latest, up-to-the-minute VERSION of the software you find. If you bookmark the site and visit regularly, you may be lucky enough to find more recent versions over time but don't come to expect it.

*** You won't (absolutely) find ANY of the over-priced, over-hyped internet marketing type launch programs or courses on these sites. To find out why, you'll need to read my share I referred to at the opening of this thread and learn who these Persian download sites target and why. So, please don't ask for my help in finding stuff that isn't there in the first place.

You'll find graphics programs like ArtRage for ipad, JixiPix, Photoshop and more. You'll find all kinds of popular apps and games for Android. On a single page, I saw icons for the following downloads: AVG and Kaspersky anti-virus, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers, VLC Media Player, Winrar File Archiver, Windows 10, Internet Download Manager, AnyDesk, TeamViewer, Skype, uTorrent (to download torrent files) and something called Telegraph Desktop.

Plus, there are little boxes with Persian numerals along the bottom of the page that take you to more downloads! Don't miss that!

So, I advise you to plan to spend a while there. If you want to search for something specific, I recommend you use basic keywords like "graphics" or "action scripts" or "e-books" to improve the chance that you will get multiple products to choose from.

Go with the flow and see what this site serves up from its treasure-trove of high-quality STUFF you can download.

Thank you. Yes always scan or Virus etc.
Also I could use Google Chrome with automatic translation for those sites. But I prefer firefox.

I like more S3 Ripper and FTP Sites for downloads. Its timesaving. But for special things I seek it is good.

Type this search string as I show above, only change JixiPix to whatever you're looking for but keep everything else exactly as I show in the example.

2. Translate or not. Your browser may give you the option to do so but I learned I couldn't in Google Chrome. So, below, I'll tell you how you won't HAVE to.

My Google search above brought me to the site that was almost completely in the Persian language (thus, the .ir - Iranian - website extension). My browser offered to translate the site. @Everyone who has commented so far: Thank you!!!! You guys and gals are GREAT!

@frenchmarketing: Wow! Thanks for putting direct links here. That must have taken some work. I appreciate it.

Glad my information helps.

I forgot to mention, once you're on the site, you can actually SEARCH for a product. Just click in the area at the top of the screen and your cursor allows you to put text and it understands English. So type in the name of what you're looking for and it should come up.

=====

NOTE
If anyone experiences any issues let me know. I just got a PM saying the password did not open a particular file. I cannot provide you with any passwords as these files come from one central site and they set the password. What could happen is once the site starts getting hit by the thousands with B-H users from OTHER FORUMS (which is why I did not post direct links; people copy-and-paste them to post on other forums) and before you know it, the source dries up. A few people can muck it up for the rest of us. So, it's possible the PW will stop working for some files. I don't know this to be the case but one person has already privately messaged me that it won't open a download.

So, please let us know if you're having any problems so the rest of us will be aware.

=====

I will keep sharing what I find with my forum friends as long as nobody gets compromised. That's why I recommend you take precautions and use virus protection and be observant when using unfamiliar sites.

And once again, I recommend you get my FREE booklet, An Awesome But (Almost) Unfair Advantage for Finding Stuff on Filechef to learn more about Persian sites before you start downloading. Get that here:

http://bestblackhatforum.com/Thread-GET-...ost+unfair

If anyone has questions about using the site or looking for something, send me a PM. I'll try to help.
