RE:
Thanks SpiritDude for sharing this.

I just read it and here's a bit from her 34 page fluff packed .pdf:
YOUR LOCAL CAMPAIGN WEBSITE and DIRECTORY
You are NOT just building a directory! I know there are people out there wth business directories and a 9x12 postcard. This is not the same thing.
You are building a Local Co Op Membership Website that communicates your message and cause and includes a directory as part of your main website. Your website should:
 Educate visitors on the benefits of shopping local
 State your membership benefits for business owners
 Contain an event calendar highlighting local events in your community
 Have a news and resources section.
Here’s a great example: http://thinkpussyfirst.org/
First things first: register a .org address for your campaign if it’s available. That gives your campaign more of a real organization feeling. If you can’t find one (should be easy though)..it’s okay if you have a .com name instead. But try to get the .org first if you can.
Now on that note, I’d like to further embellish on some of these benefits:
1. Business Directory--- yes, you should have a directory for your members within your website... BUT, and this is a big but, DO NOT start worrying about what directory site you should build, or try to build it before you land all of your deals! Just get the yes’s then start building once you have your PAYING advertisers.
a. For now you will need only to get a basic single-page website up that communicates your message clearly.
b. You can do this for FREE with Instapage. It’s easy to use—all drag-n-drop and you can be finished quickly with it. Later once you start earning a profit you can easily add additional pages to it.
2. Your local business member directory should be for ONLY locally-owned, independent businesses ONLY (at least 50% locally-owned). This is your niche and your cause. Go for it!
3. You will be combining the 9x12 Fast Profits with my Postcard Fast Profits in terms of distribution. This helps you form more of a cooperative of local
business owners, gives you a cause to stand behind, and helps get your business owners more exposure without the extra expense.
4. Recruit MANY members—not all of them have to actually be on your postcard. This is an excellent foot-in-the-door strategy (your local cause and directory) and if someone says no to the postcard—than get their ―yes‖ to being a part of the local directory. When you have people in your local directory you can then name drop their business/name to others to give you instant credibility for your 9x12 postcard.
5. By forming your local business directory that supports locally-owned businesses only you are forming a sort of ―club‖ or ―membership‖ that makes your directory stand head and shoulders above any other advertising/marketing offer they are getting hammered with on a daily basis.
6. Because you are ―one of them‖ ( a local business owner) they will let their guard down and be more receptive to you and your offerings.
7. You could and should support your local message at farmers markets and local community events. You simply will pass out postcards and/or rack cards and stickers about your local campaign.
8. Your ―Shop Local Campaign‖ will be supported by your local business part of your directory with a small contribution of $10-$25 (depending on # of participants). With this contribution you will supply them with a local campaign decal and/or poster to place in their business.
9. In addition to the $10-$25 contribution you could also get $50-$75 per business participant to contribute towards the Shop Local Campaign that would include a local guide or 11‖x17‖ postcard to be distributed along with a giveaway for local participants. For example: a $500 giveaway when local residents pick up the monster card 11‖x17‖ card and scan a QR code that goes to your local community website, that leads them to a contest entry for your $500 giveaway.
10. Your marketing materials shouldn’t cost a lot. Get the following made up once you have the profit to do so:
i. Stickers (gotprint.com) (you can get 2500 done for about $100)
ii. Rack Cards (gotprint.com) about 2500 4/4 color for about $150)
11. In addition—give out a tee-shirt for free each week on your local Facebook Page to brand your business. Here are some tips:
a. Try to connect with top business men/women in your community on Facebook.
b. Send them your media kit: your stickers, rack cards, and a t-shirt with your branding.
12. Another option: Charge $1-$3/month ($12-$36 for the year) to be listed in your directory and they also get a t-shirt supporting your campaign. Get your t-shirts designed and printed at VistaPrint for $6.99. The more your order of course—the cheaper it is. This includes the front side only in full-color.
13. Additional publications your local businesses may be featured in are talked about in the bonus part of this course.
14. PR Campaigns—we’ll talk about that later in this course too

"Now if you have more time or more experience with buidling directory websites or can fork out the dough to have one custom built for you---there are lots of other options—low-cost options that are a one-time cost vs a monthly fee as well.
Odesk is a great place to find someone who can customize a directory and build it right into your exisiting Wordpress site inexpensively too.
Just DON’T get too stuck on this detail right now. Throw up a single page website/landing page that communicates your message—then outsource the directory once you have the profit to do so. Simply let business owners know your site is in the works right now and once you reach more memebers it will go live.

Give yourself about 6 weeks before going live with your directory. This gives you plenty of time to pull it all together."

Undecided Can you do this? Sure, why not? It's one of the most labor intensive ways to build an offline business, but if you outsource it, it won't take up as much of your time, or be as successful. A realtor or insurance agent would do very well by starting this in their community building efforts. Maybe even do this for next to free to drum up new business.

Did this Amber make this up or probably even do this once? Who knows? I say nope. She's a shameless self promoter, too.

RE:
I would agree SpiritDude... it is written in the "3rd" person... as if she hadn't done this herself... or perhaps with limited success. If someone has done something with a modicum of success they would write in the "1st" person.. not the "3rd".
I certainly believe the 9x12 system has a lot of merit... as the M3 system... it is getting them to sign on to produce the cards is the problem... and she falls short once again...

I guess somebody is browsing Black Hat forums instead of going out and selling these cards - Oh I forget, she publicly mentions on Facebook that she hasn't actually finished one yet lol.

Guess it's a case of do as I say, not as I do ;)
