RE: [GET] A TON OF PDF DOWNLOADS FROM THE INSTITUTE OF DIRECT AND DIGITAL MARKETING FROM A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH!
Great work.
I was involved in direct marketing about the year 2K. It can be highly rewarding and heartbreaking. I was making about £12k a week, so shouldn't complain. I used a lot of "consultants" whom I found to be one eyed men in a world of blind people using my cash to prove or disprove their theories. The cost and effort of mailing was enormous. Buying lists and leads was similar. I ended up using leafleting. Used to post 5k leaflets a week straight through the doors that I wanted to get them in. Cost me £90 and a weeks shoe leather. I acquired extraordinary canine avoidance techniques. Facts: 98+% of your leaflet goes straight to bin. I got about 50-100 replies from the above and would convert about 15-20 to appointment and close 5-10. Some calls were to advise me where I could post my leaflet! Love the public! That meant going on appointments in the evenings and having someone at the end of a phone to handle calls. Quite costly in money and time.. Took six months to start seeing a return and that cost ultimately me my relationship at home. ( A great way of finding if someone has the same aims as you. I scaled it out and had 16 mini me's pounding the pavement, but the market changed and I moved on. To Australia and South America. One thing I have noticed in my time here is that most people seem to want a business that is at arms length to the client. My observation is that ALL the big hitters are upfront and personal and talk directly to their client base. Even here you read "PM'ed you!". You have to be able to communicate, connect and close. They also have teams in the background doing all the grunt work. This is why so many IM'ers never get going. They see the huge earnings figures the big boys and girls claim they are getting and it crushes them when they don't get that instantly. Adjust your goals. If you are earning a $1k a month to say your goal is that is a fatal error. Wars are won with series of small victories and goals are the same. Make your first goal paying one of your small bills like your internet provider. Mines $30 dollars and I don't pay that any more. Someone else does. $970 to go. Chipping away like this is hugely rewarding and good fun. The joy of direct marketing is that you put the offer out there and if they respond you are a lot warmer than a personal direct contact eg f2f, door knocking cold calling etc. They are telling you they are interested. When did you last smile and embrace a charity hugger? Moving on 20 yrs and I am using email. Its all about the message. Its all about the cost Tony Shepherds sales letter template should cover most eventualities. I use the torrent service available on this forum. Best $10 a month I ever spent. Masses about email marketing. It also means I spend money here ie I pay my way. But you guessed it. I don't pay that bill any more. Someone else does lol! Great share Layna. |
