FROM A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH!

In this share, I'll explain how I found a boatload of PDF documents on direct marketing using a simple Google search.

Recently, I came across a download link shared in a post by my forum buddy GordonShumway. It was a chapter taken from a document on direct marketing written by Drayton Bird, on how to write a letter or email that works from The Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing.

It peaked my curiosity and I wanted more.

What I came to realize is that this site features PDF documents written by a large number of copywriting and direct marketing professionals.

As a result of my search, I found so much stuff that I didn't want to download it all. But I thought I'd share what I found access to here; just in case may want to and have the time and hard drive space to grab all this stuff.

While I'm not interested in direct marketing, I did find quite a number of these documents interesting for their sheer informational value; such as these:

*** Calculating the Lifetime Value of a Customer
*** Harness the Power of Radio!
*** How to Write Effective Questionnaires
*** Door-Drop Marketing -- Now With New Improved Targeting

My Google search yielded 13 pages of results but after around page 9, the documents focus mainly on the organization itself, its course calendars and offerings. But if you keep a keen eye open, there will still a few premium information PDFs sprinkled in among these results.

So, without further ado, these are the two simple steps ...

STEP 1: Search Google like this:

You can see that I used the site designation to search for the name of the website I culled from GordonShumway's link. I wanted more PDF documents like the one he shared so I used the filetype: designation to ask for Portable Document Format files.

STEP 2: Look through the returns and click the title links to download each one you want. I created a desktop folder named "The IDM PDFs" and saved them all there.

DIRECT MARKETING MODEL --- HUGE REWARDS (AND RISKS)!

Just so you know, direct marketing can be a lucrative business model but it is expensive because it uses the physical (snail mail) postal method to reach your prospects. Additionally, there are associated ongoing costs such as mailing list rentals, printing services, postage and mailing services that, if you don't know what you're doing, you could lose your shirt!

Yes, the rewards can be great but so can the risks, as well.

Direct marketing is not for the faint-of-heart but if you use direct marketing as a business model and can use some qualified guidance to improve your profits, this share can help!

So, there you have it.

If you are not interested in direct marketing, you can still use this search method to search for just about anything.

Simply substitute the name of the website (or leave it off altogether); change the filetype (ex: doc, ppt, mp3 if you want something other than PDFs); and even add a generic keyword (ex: copywriting, podcasting) ... then see what pops up!

With searches like this, you're going on an adventure where (with a little patience) you're bound to come across something interesting -- even if it isn't exactly what you set out to find in the first place.

LAYNA'S NOTE: Be aware that you will not find premium guru-type e-books, courses, etc. in a search such as this. Those product owners usually protect their wares behind membership portals and third-party payment processors.
