the method taught here is that you can create an ebay collection, and in the profile of that collection you can leave a link to your website (with various best practice suggestions).

However, in the main example given, when I go to that page, that site URL does not show up to me as a live link. Am I missing something?

No you aren't missing anything. You are able to have a non-live link in your profile at this time. He recommends that you be certain that it leads to a site of reasonable quality as well as a few other recommendations. You can also manage a bit of SEO to get more views of your collections as well. This is more a method for supporting a site you currently have for monetizing in some fashion. It's not a primary source of traffic, it's a secondary, or actually more of a tertiary traffic source to add for a monetizing site.

This isn't as much a plan to monetize in abundance, it's more a method to pick up a little more traffic to one of your sites. I've done it for five days now and had a total of 3 conversions on a site I have with content related to an ebay collection I created.

I think the only reason this works at the moment is that ebay is testing the waters here by giving an example of what you can do with your collections profile. This may change if they see it being abused.

I don't recall having read this in the ebook. I am on the road at the moment and don't have the book with me. I recall this being mostly about sending additional traffic to a site one is monetizing already, which is what I have done.
