rep is the only way you can pay back to the ones that take the time to share stuff.
rep is used to gain access to special areas of the forum and get cool shiny badges. there has to be some sort of incentive so that the ones that contribute dont feel like their efforts have gone unnoticed.  |

Thanks very much for your share. I always give reps if I download what's offered. I think sometimes people look at it, and decide it isn't for them and don't bother. It'll still show up as a 'hit', but may not have been acted upon.
