[FREE] How I Make $100,000/year in the Music Business
How I Make $100,000/year in the Music Business (Without a Record Label, Manager, or Booking Agent!) 1. This is NOT a get rich quick, magic formula! There is an old saying in the music business that every “overnight sensation†takes ten years. You need to realize that there is a good chance the success you are seeking won’t happen within the next week, month, or year. In fact, it may take several years. There is not one single thing you will do or person you will meet that will make you successful as a musician. Most music business careers are a series of thousands of very small steps with a few leaps and jumps along the way. Things don’t happen on your time schedule; they happen when they happen. 2. They call this the music business because it is a business. All too often, musicians think that musical success will come to them if they create good music and simply show up at the local bar to play a gig. This is fine for those who simply want to play rock star, but attaining true musical success takes a lot more. Your path to musical success isn’t going to be all fun and games. While the industry sells that image on MTV and in magazines like Spin and Rolling Stone, it is far from reality. This is work and there will be some days where you’re not going to want to do what needs to be done. When this happens, just remember that you’re going to have to make a living doing something; you can either get over the fact that this isn’t all fun and games or go back to your day job where there aren’t any fun and games. 3. You didn’t invent the music business. This industry has been around for thousands of years. It was here before you became part of it and it will be here well after you are gone. You’re not going to change much about the music business. We can bend a few rules and technology is opening up new opportunities in terms of recording, promotion, manufacturing, and distribution, but the basic business hasn’t changed much since its invention and it’s not going to change much. 4. Remember that your career is a series of small steps. At times, things will seem hopeless, but as long as you’re moving forward, you’ll eventually get where you are going. The music business has never turned anybody away who really wants to be part of it. Failure in the music business is most often self-inflicted. Success is always self-inflicted. The harder you work, the better your results will be. How I Screenshots:
