Does Backlinks Really work in 2014?
I am just wondering does the backlinks really works now?
After all the Algorithm updates, what is the current strategy of SEO which we should implement to get some decent ranking? Can some one share the legit experience. Thanks |

Backlinks are still important, but not as important as they used now. It used to be all about backlinks: the more backlinks u have, the higher your keyword will be ranked. However, that is not the case anymore. There are many other factors, in 2004 and beyond, social signals actually play major roles now. Of course, the most important element is still content. Content is still the king. Create best content and the share, relevant backlinks will come naturally. Here is information i found pretty useful in terms of top ranking factors:

Backlinks are just as important as they used to be. Content has always been king this is not new. Nor is the need for many backlinks. What HAS changed is the type of backlinks. Since the Zoo changes with Google semantic backlinks have become a key factor in the success of your SEO efforts.
Before you could just throw pretty much any type of backlink from any source and have it be gold. Not so much anymore. The search engines have refocused their efforts to reward backlinks that are relevant to the site they are pointing to and from. This is a good thing as it shows the search engines that the roads you have built to bring your traffic to you is targeted to your niche. This helps the search engines advertisers ROI. One thing to mention as well is that Sites like Siteber linked above a couple of posts have Backlinks tied with the number two ranking factor in a site. This is only partially true. What that site and a few others like it miss is that the number one factor they have listed is Google +1 This maybe important to Google rankings but do not dismiss Bing and the other search engines out there. If you create a great site and include a great variety of relevant backlinks with good on page SEO you will out rank those who do not have those regardless of your Google +1 numbers. The other way around is not the case though. Too many marketers focus only on Google. There is a TON of traffic to be had. Google is a big search engine fish but small fish in terms of social weight (other than Youtube)Social sharing and Viral marketing using social signals as a way to gain traffic is very important. Mainly because a social signal IS a backlink. To say Social signals are just as important as backlinks is true but only because in essence they are just another kind of backlink. Leverage your time building relationships with Content,SEO, Relevent Backlinks,Proper site contruction and Social platforms. Though these factors really have not changed in quite sometime people who never did those things only think they did. |
