RE: Hello from a Doctor!
Many people have hemorrhoids and feel absolutely no symptoms during their life.

If you have unsymptomatic hemorrhoids leave them alone (no pun intended) and don't think about them.

If you have symptoms visit a doctor for appropriate treatment - diet, medications or even surgery in advanced cases.

So to your question - hemorrhoids may get inflamed, may bleed but this doesn't happen to all people with hemorrhoids.

RE: Hello from a Doctor!
It does pain when the inflated vessels come out of the anus but I have found a way to prevent that by doing specific asanas that pull the rectum inwards. I forgot to tell you that I have had a cryo surgery for the same ailment in 1979. The problem has resurfaced from the last year. Bleeding takes place only when I have constipation and my bowel movements are not smooth. However, this takes place once every 5-6 months.

The surgeon suggested to go for stapler surgery. I am thinking that since it has relapsed once, it can relapse again in the future. I am 63+ years of age, have no sugar, or cholesterol problems... just a bit of hypertension. Should I go for surgery? The surgeon poked his finger inside the crevice... so he did not leave it alone (no pun intended) ;-) Cheers!

RE: Hello from a Doctor!
Have you tried first medication therapy?

For example Diosmin-containing products?

Diosmin is something that I recommend for initial therapy and then further divide the patients into groups - responders and non-responders and treat them accordingly.

RE: Hello from a Doctor!
Thanks a million for the information. I'll buy a generic composition tomorrow and try it. Hopefully there are no contraindications with the various kinds of `anti depression' and `mood booster' drugs I am taking. Hopefully, I end up in the `responders' group. :)

I'll be getting the medicine tomorrow and will inform you after taking the same for 5 days. Should I follow x-o-x or x-x-x? (two or three times daily)

RE: Hello from a Doctor!
The dosage depends on the specific medication used.

The product that I use most often (Phlebodia - containing Diosmin) is taken once or twice daily.
